A study of the mechanism of nonuniform production rate in shale gas based on nonradioactive gas tracer technology

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2020
The performance of horizontal wells in shale gas is controlled by multiple factors, and there is a difference in gas production rate between different fracturing stages. However, the mechanism of the nonuniform gas production rate is still not clear.

Why Do Hedgers Hedge? The Role of Ambiguity

open access: yesJournal of Futures Markets, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates whether ambiguity influences hedging behavior in commodity futures markets. Using high‐frequency crude oil futures data, distinct measures of risk and ambiguity are linked to weekly hedging positions from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Pore Structure Characteristics and Genesis of Low-Permeability Sandstone Reservoirs in the Eocene Wenchang Formation, Huizhou Sag, Pearl River Mouth Basin, Northern South China Sea

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Porosity and permeability are critical parameters in petroleum exploration and development. The relationship between pore structure and permeability in near-source reservoirs is more closely correlated than in other types of reservoirs.

A Reproducible SEM Surface Imaging Protocol for Monitoring Microstructural Changes During Gas–Rock Interactions

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Reliable characterization of mineralogical and textural changes in rock samples is essential for understanding fluid–rock interactions, particularly in experimental studies simulating subsurface conditions. This study presents a reproducible protocol for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of rock surfaces before and after exposure to ...

Shale oil : potential economies of large-scale production, preliminary phase [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Producing shale oil on a large scale is one of the possible alternatives for reducing dependence of the United States on imported petroleum. Industry is not producing shale oil on a commercial scale now because costs are too high even though ...

Evidence From Microscopy and U–Pb Geochronology as a Clue to the Influence of the Cretaceous Magmatism in the Diagenesis of Pre‐Salt Carbonate Reservoirs in the Santos Basin (Brazil)

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Carbonates from Santos Basin revealed U–Pb ages correlated with basalt ages (A), suggesting that they were formed during magmatic events. These events placed hot CO2 in the reservoir, which, when mixed with carbonate‐rich cold water (B), led to thermal convection, enabling the formation of the U contained in the carbonates.

Research progress of microscopic percolation mechanism of shale oil

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi
Shale oil has become the focus of the exploration and development of unconventional oil and gas resources in the world, but its development faces many challenges. Aiming at the complex pore space, the unclear percolation mechanism, and the urgent need to

Seismic Sequence Stratigraphy Applied to Reservoir Recognition and Evolution on Marine Carbonatic Ramp—Macaé Group (Albian to Cenomanian) of Campos Basin

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
A classic oil producing interval of the Campos Basin—Macaé Group is revisited through seismic stratigraphic analysis, providing a stratigraphic framework, characteristic depositional and relative time positioning for several complex structural settings.

Изменение электропроводности горючих сланцев под влиянием плазмы электротеплового пробоя [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Partial discharges with following treeing were discovered in oil shale. These phenomena are cause of breakdown like in dielectrics, but with some features. Shale conductivity increases due to carbonization under discharge plasma affect. Carbonized volume
