Fe–Mn Crust δ98Mo Decline Records Tectonic Forcing on Marine Oxide Sink Reduction During the Early Eocene–Early Oligocene

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 7, 16 April 2026.
Abstract S, Tl, and W isotope records document pronounced early Eocene shifts in marine redox, yet the absence of a Mo isotope record obscures its progression. Here, we present ∼80 Myr Mo–Os–Be–Nd isotope profiles from a Northwest Pacific hydrogenetic Fe–Mn crust, revealing a systematic δ98Mo decline from −0.24‰ (early Eocene) to −0.83‰ (early ...

Large‐Scale Hydrogen Storage: Surface and Subsurface Challenges

open access: yesChemBioEng Reviews, Volume 13, Issue 2, April 2026.
This review examines underground hydrogen storage with emphasis on the interaction between surface facilities and subsurface reservoirs. Variable renewable hydrogen requires compression, buffering, and purification before injection, while subsurface processes influence wellhead pressure, temperature, and composition.

Organic Geochemical Characterization and Exploration Prospects of Hydrocarbon Source Rocks in Nepal

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1781-1794, April 2026.
It provides a more detailed introduction to the current situation of oil and gas exploration in Nepal, as well as the properties and distribution characteristics of source rocks. ABSTRACT This study aims to evaluate the hydrocarbon generation potential and exploration prospects of hydrocarbon source rocks in the Dailekh to Dang–Tansen area of Nepal ...

Event‐driven shifts in river and reservoir sediment sources: Cottonwood River and John Redmond Reservoir, USA

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 4, April 2026.
In‐channel flow events are dominated by streambank sediment (50%) whereas downstream lakebed deposits are dominated by cropland sources (40%). This shift in sediment provenance is event‐driven: during infrequent, out‐of‐bank flood events, vast quantities of floodplain cropland soil are mobilized in exceedance of the river's bank‐dominated internal load.

Observed Hydroclimatic Trends and Their Implications Over Water‐Cycle Dynamics in Montérégie, Southern Quebec, Canada

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 10, Issue 4, April 2026.
In this study, we quantified the changes in different hydroclimatic parameters and evaluated their impacts on the groundwater resources across Montérégie. Using the GR4J+CemaNeige model, and multi‐decadal hydroclimatic records, the study shows the watershed's variability and identifies seasons and land cover scenarios where groundwater recharge ...

Development and Application of a Simplified Method for Preliminary Assessment of Enhanced Oil Recovery and CO2 Geological Storage in Petroleum Reservoirs

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, Volume 16, Issue 2, Page 238-252, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Geologic carbon storage in depleted oil and gas reservoirs is a key CO2 mitigation strategy, utilizing existing infrastructure such as injection wells and pipelines, while capitalizing on well‐characterized subsurface properties. This article introduces a versatile methodology designed to estimate critical parameters, including the number of ...

Numerical simulation for production dynamics of horizontal well after fracturing of shale oil in Jiyang Depression

open access: yesYouqi dizhi yu caishoulu
Jiyang shale oil is a terrestrial self-generated and self-accumulated reservoir with deep burial, low maturity, and high pressure coefficient. Artificial reconstruction spaces with complex flow mechanisms form after large-scale volumetric fracturing, and
