Supercritical CO2 (SCO2) as alternative to water for shale reservoir fracturing
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021Hydraulic fracturing is one of the common stimulation technologies which is used for shale gas or oil production. But the use of conventional hydro- fracturing has lot of drawbacks including water scarcity and environmental disaster, clay swelling ...

A Comprehensive Reservoir Evaluation of a Shale Reservoir—The New Albany Shale
SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2002Abstract This paper presents the results of a comprehensive reservoir evaluation of the New Albany shale reservoir in northern Kentucky and southern Indiana and Illinois. Although initially compared with the Antrim shale in the Michigan basin, the New Albany shale has been found to have very different production characteristics than the ...

Reservoir Modeling in Shale-Gas Reservoirs
SPE Reservoir Evaluation & Engineering, 2009Summary The exploitation of unconventional gas reservoirs has become an ever increasing component of the North American gas supply. The economic viability of many unconventional gas developments hinges on effective stimulation of extremely low-permeability rock by creating very complex fracture networks that connect huge reservoir ...

Adsorbed and free hydrocarbons in unconventional shale reservoir: A new insight from NMR T1-T2 maps
Marine and Petroleum Geology, 2020Characterizing free and adsorbed hydrocarbon is crucial for the resources assessment and mobility evaluation of shale oil plays. The complex feature of hydrogen-bearing components in shale reservoirs requires new analytical methods to study the ...

Inversion of reservoir parameters in shale reservoir with inclined fractures
Global Meeting Abstracts, 2022This paper, we introduce a parameter inversion method for shale reservoir with a set of inclined fractures. Firstly, a reflection coefficient equation including three attibutes (A: the impedance, B: shear modulus proportional to an anellipticity parameter and C: horizontal P-wave phase velocity) and fracture weaknesses is derived.

Slip length of methane flow under shale reservoir conditions: Effect of pore size and pressure
, 2020The conventional hydrodynamic equations (Navier-Stokes, Hagen-Poiseuille equations and Darcy’s law) are no longer applicable in shale gas recovery due to strong surface adsorption and slip flow effect on gas transport in nanopores.

Numerical simulation on the in situ upgrading of oil shale reservoir under microwave heating
, 2020Microwave heating shows great potential in pyrolyzing oil shale with fast heating rate in many laboratory experiments. There are few studies based on numerical simulations to investigate the technical and economic feasibility of microwave on the in situ ...
