Modeling Adsorption in Shale [PDF]
The existing conventional methods to characterize reservoir storage properties face challenges in shale formations due to their fine grained texture, low porosity, and low permeability.

Post-fracturing numerical simulation of shale gas reservoir based on complex flow mechanisms
In shale gas reservoirs with natural fractures, the artificial fractures and natural fractures communicate with each other after fracturing. The traditional dual media model can not accurately reflect the impact of natural fractures on well production ...

Well XA‐1, completed at a true vertical depth of 11 156 m in the Shawan Sag of the Junggar Basin, is the deepest predominantly near‐vertical well drilled in a sedimentary basin. The figure shows the basin's tectonic framework and well location (a), a structural cross‐section spanning the Shawan Sag and adjacent uplifts (b), and the stratigraphic column

This work integrates 5 years of field data from the Aquistore CCS project with a non‐isothermal THM modeling framework to explain how cold CO2 injection alters injectivity over time. The study shows that sustained cooling near the wellbore reduces effective stresses, promotes tensile micro‑cracking, and leads to semi‑reversible permeability enhancement

Microscale effect of microvadose in shale reservoirs
There are abundant nanopores in the organic matter of shales. Gas flow in nano-pores leads to micro-scale effect that can't be described by flowing law of macro fluid. The Lattice Boltzmann Method was applied to simulate gas flow in the nano-channels of organic matter and the effect of slippage, diffusion and adsorption/desorption were considered.

Quantitative Insights into Atomic Scale Oil–Clay Adhesion Governing Shale Oil Retention and Mobility
Atomic force microscopy reveals a clear adhesion hierarchy between shale oil and clay minerals, governed by nanoscale surface chemistry. Strong interactions on chlorite and illite arise from abundant polar sites and cation bridging, whereas weaker coupling on montmorillonite limits interfacial binding.

An evaluation method of shale reservoir crushability based on grey correlation analysis
The crushability evaluation of shale reservoir is a complex system engineering. But as there are many parameters that affect the reservoir crushability, including the reservoir basic geological parameters, the rock mechanics, the formation pressure, the ...
