Análisis de la capacidad de soporte sísmica de fundaciones superficiales [PDF]
Indexación: Web of Science; Scielo. In the context of engineering practice, the problem of the seismic bearing capacity of shallow foundations has been solved indirectly, either due an increase of the static allowable soil pressures related to the ...

Duplex Stainless Steel Laser‐Surface Textured: Stability in Brine Solution
Controlled laser‐surface treatment (LST) of duplex DSS2205 steel is performed to increase its stability in brine solution under cyclic electrochemical assays. The superior protection with respect to flat and smooth panels is attributed to the presence of FeCr2O4 as the main protective oxide layer in the LST surface, after corrosion tests. The stability

Investigation of the Size Effect at Different Geometries on Stress Distribution of Sandy Soils [PDF]
In this study, the induced vertical soil stress values occuring along with horizontal surfaces at predetermined depths of the shallow foundations on sandy soils were investigated by model tests.

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Investigating the changing deformation mechanism beneath shallow foundations [PDF]
The design of shallow foundations has traditionally used a mixture of plasticity-based solutions to find the ultimate limit state and either a factor of safety on the plasticity solution or a linear elastic solution to attempt to design for the ...

Assessing the contribution of vegetation to slope stability [PDF]
Many embankments and cuttings associated with the transportation infrastructure in the UK are only marginally stable. Engineering techniques such as soil nailing, geosynthetic reinforcement, improved drainage and ground improvement by stabilisation are ...

High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Enhanced Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn Alloy by Aging Treatment
This work systematically investigates the effect of aging treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of vacuum arc‐melted Ti‐13Nb‐12Ta‐10Zr‐4Sn alloy. Owing to the increased α″ martensite, strength and corrosion resistance were significantly enhanced by aging treatment.
