TuVe

Proceedings of the International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces, 2020
We propose TuVe, a novel shape-changing display consisting of a flexible tube and fluids, in which the droplets flowing through the tube compose the display medium that represents information. In this system, every colored droplet is flowed by controlling valves and a pump connected to the tube.

Environment‐Interactive Programmable Deformation of Electronically Innervated Synergistic Fluorescence‐Color/Shape Changeable Hydrogel Actuators

Small, 2023
Abstract Utilization of life‐like hydrogels to replicate synergistic shape/color changeable behaviors of living organisms has been long envisaged to produce robust functional integrated soft actuators/robots. However, it remains challenging to construct such hydrogel systems with integrated functionality of remote, localized and ...

A RISC-V Processor with an Inter-Chiplet Wireless Communication Interface for Shape-Changeable Computers

2020 IEEE Symposium in Low-Power and High-Speed Chips (COOL CHIPS), 2020
We present a prototype chip of a processor with a wireless communication interface using on-chip coils. Multiple chiplets can be wirelessly connected by using horizontal inductive coupling between on-chip coils. This enables variation in the relative angle between adjacent chiplets during operation and system implementation in complicated shapes and ...

Design of Shape-Changeable Chiplet-Based Computers Using an Inductively Coupled Wireless Bus Interface

2020 IEEE 38th International Conference on Computer Design (ICCD), 2020
Research on small-sized microrobot swarms and shape-changeable user interfaces has been conducted extensively. Wireless bus interface technology has been proposed for such applications. This technology uses inductive coupling among on-chip coils to connect multiple chips wirelessly.

WiXI: An Inter-Chip Wireless Bus Interface for Shape-Changeable Chiplet-Based Computers

2019 IEEE 37th International Conference on Computer Design (ICCD), 2019
Herein, we propose a wireless bus interface that can connect multiple chips to form a flexible system. In the proposed bus interface, on-chip coils are formed along the outer periphery of each chip, and high-speed wireless communication between multiple chips is enabled via horizontal inductive coupling between coils.

Collision-free path planning for a shape-changeable mobile robot in a 3-dimensional environment

[1990] Proceedings of the 2nd International IEEE Conference on Tools for Artificial Intelligence, 2002
The problem of finding a collision-free path for a shape-changeable mobile robot in a 3D environment is studied. In order to solve the problem, a 3D path planner is used. This path planner represents the spaces which are occupied by the robot under different gestures as a set of cuboids of different sizes and uses two levels of planning, i.e.

Thermo-responsive two-way shape changeable polymeric laminate

Materials Letters, 2010
Abstract Contrary to our intuition and strenuous efforts, the thermo-responsive two-way shape changeable polymer was successfully fabricated by an unexpectedly simple method. In fact, the structure of specimen was the laminate. It merely consisted of two pieces of polymer plates.
