Shape Complementarity Analysis for Objects of Arbitrary Shape

open access: yesCoRR, 2017
The basic problem of shape complementarity analysis appears fundamental to applications as diverse as mechanical design, assembly automation, robot motion planning, micro- and nano-fabrication, protein-ligand binding, and rational drug design. However, the current challenge lies in the lack of a general mathematical formulation that applies to objects ...

A landmark‐free analysis of the pelvic girdle in Sulawesi ricefishes (Adrianichthyidae): How 2D and 3D geometric morphometrics can complement each other in the analysis of a complex structure

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2023
Geometric morphometrics (GM) enable the quantification of morphological variation on various scales. Recent technical advances allow analyzing complex three‐dimensional shapes also in cases where landmark‐based approaches are not appropriate.

3D Shape Analysis of Scoliosis

open access: yes, 2023
Scoliosis is typically measured in 2D in the coronal plane, although it is a three-dimensional (3D) condition. Our objective in this work is to analyse the 3D geometry of the spine and its relationship to the vertebral canal. To this end, we make three contributions: first, we extract the 3D space curve of the spine automatically from low-resolution ...

Carcinomas and Carcinoid Tumors of the Lungs and Bronchi in Children and Adolescents: The EXPeRT Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Primary lung carcinomas and bronchial carcinoid tumors (BC) are very rare malignancies in childhood. While typical BC and mucoepidermoid carcinomas are mostly low‐grade, localized tumors with a more favorable prognosis than in adults, necessitating avoidance of overtreatment, adenocarcinomas of the lung are often diagnosed at advanced disease ...

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Indian topographical map symbols understanding system

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2015
Symbol understanding is a pre‐requisite for reading and interpretation of any map. Thus, any topographic map‐based automated system needs to understand generic symbols associated with the set of maps.

Health‐Related Quality of Life and Symptom Severity Among Patients With PIK3CA‐Related Overgrowth Spectrum: A Mixed‐Methods Study to Understand Real‐World Experience With Alpelisib Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background PIK3CA‐related overgrowth spectrum (PROS) includes several rare overgrowth disorders resulting from somatic gain‐of‐function mutations in PIK3CA. Despite treatment advances, including the recent approval of alpelisib for PROS in the United States, literature detailing the patient experience with PROS is limited.

Depth-Based Shape-Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we propose a new method for shape analysis based on the depth-ordering of shapes. We use this depth-ordering to non-parametrically define depth with respect to a normal control population. This allows us to quantify differences with respect to "normality".

Clinical and Biological Features of Response in Resistant Neuroblastoma to 131I‐Metaiodobenzylguanidine Radiotherapy in the Anti‐GD2 Immunotherapy Era

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background 131I‐metaiodobenzylguanidine (131I‐MIBG) radiotherapy is a key treatment for relapsed and refractory (R/R) neuroblastoma (NB). Patients with R/R disease treated in the modern era are increasingly exposed to anti‐GD2 immunotherapy, which exerts selective pressure and may modify both tumor cell state and microenvironment.
