Shape coexistence far from stability

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2012
Recent results on the gamma-ray spectroscopy of the neutron-rich nucleus 67Co, populated through multi-nucleon transfer reactions by bombarding a 238U target with a 460 MeV 70Zn beam at the Legnaro National Laboratory, are presented. The development of deformation in Co isotopes approaching the N=40 subshell closure is discussed within the shell model ...

Nuclear shape coexistence in a schematic model

Physical Review C, 1990
The phenomenon of shape coexistence, occurring frequently in the vicinity of nuclear subshell closures, is investigated within a schematic model with protons in two subshells and neutrons in a single shell. The results of this study shed some light on how one should model the phenomenon within the interacting-boson framework and relates to previous ...

Shape-Coexistence in 74Kr

2000
Combined conversion electron (CE) and γ ray spectroscopy has been performed for 74Kr. The possibility of electric-monopole (E0) decays was examined in order to confirm the evidence for a low-lying isomeric 0 2 + state and to give insight into the mixing between the predicted coexisting prolate and oblate shapes.

Shape Coexistence in ¹⁵¹Gd

1977
The level structure of the odd-A transitional nucleus ¹⁵¹Gd has been studied by means of the ¹⁴⁹Sm(α,2n)¹⁵¹Gd reaction through ϒ-ray singles, ϒ-ray angular distributions, ϒ-ϒcoincidence and conversion electron measurements. A number of rotational band-like structures have been observed, indicating that the nucleus is deformed when produced in this ...

Shape coexistence in $^{96,98}$Sr

2017
The structure of neutron-rich 96,98Sr isotopes was investigated by lowenergyCoulomb excitation of radioactive beams at the REX-ISOLDE facility.Reduced transition probabilities and spectroscopic quadrupole moments wereextracted from the differential Coulomb excitation cross sections.
