Towards Precise Completion of Deformable Shapes [PDF]
According to Aristotle, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”. This statement was adopted to explain human perception by the Gestalt psychology school of thought in the twentieth century. Here, we claim that when observing a part of an object which was previously acquired as a whole, one could deal with both partial correspondence and shape ...

Sparse-to-Dense Multi-Encoder Shape Completion of Unstructured Point Cloud
Unstructured point clouds are a representative shape representation of real-world scenes in 3D vision and graphics. Incompletion inevitably arises, due to the way the set of unorganized points is captured, e.g., as fusion of depth images, merged laser ...

Experimental Analysis of Commercial Optical Methods for Foot Measurement
Due to the increasing trend of online shopping, shoes are more and more often bought without being tried on. This leads to a strong increase in returns, which results in a high financial as well as ecological burden. To prevent this, feet can be measured

Shape completion enabled robotic grasping [PDF]
This work provides an architecture to enable robotic grasp planning via shape completion. Shape completion is accomplished through the use of a 3D convolutional neural network (CNN). The network is trained on our own new open source dataset of over 440,000 3D exemplars captured from varying viewpoints.

Completion of occluded shapes using symmetry [PDF]
Following the view that symmetry is a continuous feature, a continuous symmetry measure (CSM) is developed to evaluate symmetrics of shapes and objects. The symmetry measure is extended to evaluate the symmetry of occluded shapes. Using the symmetry measure, occluded shapes are reconstructed by locating the center of symmetry of the shape. >

Component-aware generative autoencoder for structure hybrid and shape completion
Assembling components of man-made objects to create new structures or complete 3D shapes is a popular approach in 3D modeling techniques. Recently, leveraging deep neural networks for assembly-based 3D modeling has been widely studied. However, exploring

Point cloud completion via structured feature maps using a feedback network
In this paper, we tackle the challenging problem of point cloud completion from the perspective of feature learning. Our key observation is that to recover the underlying structures as well as surface details, given partial input, a fundamental component

Shape-Based Classification of Partially Observed Curves, With Applications to Anthropology
We consider the problem of classifying curves when they are observed only partially on their parameter domains. We propose computational methods for (i) completion of partially observed curves; (ii) assessment of completion variability through a ...
