Shape derivatives without taking the shape derivative

PAMM, 2007
AbstractA general framework for calculating shape derivatives for optimization problems with partial differential equations as constraints is presented. Exploiting the structure of the cost functional the proposed technique allows to obtain the shape derivative of the cost without the necessity to involve the shape derivative of the state variable ...

Shapes of derivative neopolarograms

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1977
Abstract A derivative neopolarogram is the peaked curve that is generated by semidifferentiation of the current that flows in response to an imposed ramp signal on a stationary electrode. Theory is presented that describes the shapes of such curves for both reversible and irreversible electrode processes at planar and spherical electrodes.

Structure of shape derivatives

Journal of Evolution Equations, 2002
In this paper, we describe the precise structure of second "shape derivatives", that is derivatives of functions whose argument is a variable subset of \( \mathbb{R}^N \). This is done for Frechet derivatives in adequate Banach spaces. Besides the structure itself, interest lies in the way it is derived: the starting point is a "functional analytic ...

Eigenpair Derivative with Respect to Boundary Shape

AIAA Journal, 1997
Summary: We study how changes of boundary shapes affect eigenvalues and eigenfunctions in continuous systems. The governing equation, plus its boundary conditions for the eigenpair derivatives, are derived using the \(\delta\)-function method, which can facilitate the differentiation of boundary conditions with respect to boundary shapes.

Derivation of CLAES Filter Shapes

Optical Remote Sensing of the Atmosphere, 1993
The Cryogenic Limb Array Etalon Spectrometer, CLAES, was launched on September 12, 1991 aboard the NASA Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) and has been acquiring data on stratospheric composition since October 1, 1991. Overviews of the CLAES experiment and hardware are given by Roche et al (1) and Burriesci et al. (2).

Shape derivatives for scattering problems

Inverse Problems, 2018
Abstract In this paper we study shape derivatives of solutions of acoustic and elec- tromagnetic scattering problems in frequency domain from the perspective of differential forms following Hiptmair and Li’s work (2013 Ann. Mat. Pura Appl . 192

A derivation of Shape Dynamics

2018
By applying the principles of relational field theory to the gravitational field, and using 3D diffeomorphism invariance as our symmetry principle for best matching, it is feasible to reduce the working possibilities to just a few cases. One is a field-theory version of (GR), which is the limit of General Relativity in which the speed of light goes to ...
