Implicit Motion-Shape Model: A generic approach for action matching
2010 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2010We develop a robust technique to find similar matches of human actions in video. Given a query video, Motion History Images (MHI) are constructed for consecutive keyframes. This is followed by dividing the MHI into local Motion-Shape regions, which allows us to analyze the action as a set of sparse space-time patches in 3D.

Generic Initialization for Motion Capture from 3D Shape
2010Real time and markerless motion capture is an active research area, due to applications in human-computer interactions, for example. A large part of the existing markerless motion capture methods require an initialization step, consisting in finding the initial position of the different limbs of the subject.

Scaled Indexing of General Shapes for complicated 3D motion recognition
2014 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (CASE), 2014Motion recognition based on trajectory is important for motion analysis. Complicated motion recognition is still a challenge in various applications of robot and automation. In this paper, we propose a novel framework with a new model, Scaled Indexing of General Shapes (S-IGS), for complicated motion recognition.

On Probabilistic Completeness of the Generalized Shape Expansion-Based Motion Planning Algorithm
2020 59th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2020A major aspect of motion planning is the use of sampling-based algorithms. Sampling-based methods are primarily used to generate a feasible collision-free path for agents in an environment known a-priori. A recently proposed motion planning algorithm, termed as ’Generalized Shape Expansion’ (GSE) algorithm, is a promising option in this class of ...

Automatic Generation of Statistical Shape Models in Motion
2018Statistical body shape modeling (SBSM) is a well-known technique to map out the variability of body shapes and is commonly used in 3D anthropometric analyses. In this paper, a new approach to integrate movement acquired by a motion capture system with a body shape is proposed. This was done by selecting landmarks on a body shape model, and predicting a

Design Optimization of Linear-Rotary Motion Permanent Magnet Generator With E-Shaped Stator
IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2021A linear-rotary motion permanent magnet (PM) generator is investigated with six axial modular E-shaped stator sections arranged circumferentially, which can meet the requirement of wave and tidal energies generation. The PM pole is magnetized in radial direction, and the adjacent PM poles with opposite magnetized directions are interlaced by half mover

Analysis Of Motion Patterns Generated By Moving Shapes
SPIE Proceedings, 1985The aim of the experiment described in this paper is to investigate the possibility of describing the motion of a two-dimensional object represented by a sequence of snapshots. The interest of this experiment resides in the fact that the motion patterns we are dealing with are the irregular ones generated when the shape of an object changes the ...

Rapid automatic target recognition using generic 3D sensor and shape-from-motion data
SPIE Proceedings, 2007Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) using three-dimensional (3D) sensor data has proven very successful in experimental platforms. One of the factors limiting the implementation of these approaches is lag in operational hardware to provide the type of data required. Neptec has addressed this sensor concern in its 3D ATR software.

Asymmetry of the shape of surroundings as a mechanism for generating directed motion
Technical Physics, 2013A mechanism for generating a directed motion of a Brownian particle in an asymmetric channel under the action of a varying force field is considered. The setup implementing such a mechanism resembles typical Brownian motors using asymmetry of the energy potential (ratchet effect).
