Vertebral Shape: Automatic Measurement with Active Shape Models

Radiology, 1999
The shape and appearance of the spine on lateral dual x-ray absorptiometry scans were statistically modeled. To measure vertebral shape accurately, rapidly, and automatically with a computer, this trained model was matched to findings on previously unseen scans.

Measuring shape rectangularities

2011 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT), 2011
This paper introduces a family of rectangularity measures. Several rectangularity measures already exist in literature, and all of them evaluate how much the shape considered differs from a perfect rectangle. But all existing measures assume that all rectangles have the same shape, and a consequence is that these measures do not distinguish among the ...

Cornea shape measurement

Close-Range Photogrammetry Meets Machine Vision, 1990
This paper discusses a technique for cornea shape measurement. Unlike the conventional method of concentric ring projection (Placido discs), this method can be used on ulcerated or scarred corneas or on non reflective surfaces. The tear film is stained with orange fluorescein and an illuminated pattern is projected through a blue filter and an image is

SHAPE RECTANGULARITY MEASURES

International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2012
This paper introduces a family of rectangularity measures. The measures depend on two parameters which enable their flexibility, i.e. the possibility to adapt with respect to a concrete application. Several rectangularity measures exist in the literature, and they are designed to evaluate numerically how much the shape considered differs from a ...

Measuring Shape Ellipticity

2011
A new ellipticity measure is proposed in this paper. The acquired shape descriptor shows how much the shape considered differs from a perfect ellipse. It is invariant to scale, translation, rotation and it is robust to noise and distortions. The new ellipticity measure ranges over (0, 1] and gives 1 if and only if the measured shape is an ellipse.

Measuring Shape Commonality

2006
The current market has become customer driven and heterogeneous, and these shifts in the market have caused companies the additional problem of providing greater variety with existing challenges of providing greater quality, competitive pricing, and greater speed to market. Many companies are moving towards a platform approach to address the challenges

The Measurement of Shape-Constancy

The American Journal of Psychology, 1951
Just as the measurement of size-constancy requires facilities for equating the apparent sizes of two figures situated at different distances from S, so the measurement of shape-constancy requires the equation of the apparent shapes of two figures which are differently oriented with respect to S.
