Automatic measurement of vertebral shape using active shape models

Proceedings Third IEEE Workshop on Applications of Computer Vision. WACV'96, 1996
In this paper, we describe how Active Shape Models (ASMs) have been used to accurately and robustly locate vertebrae in lateral Dual Energy Xray Absorptiometry (DXA) images of the spine. DXA images are of low spatial resolution, and contain significant random and structural noise, providing a difficult challenge for object location methods.

Shape Decomposition and Shape Similarity Measure

1998
We propose a simple and natural rule for decomposition of 2D objects into parts of visual form. The hierarchical convexity rule states that visual parts axe enclosed by maximal convex boundary arcs (with respect to the object) at various levels of curve evolution.

Focusing mirror shape measurement

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1998
Abstract A simple method of measuring the focusing-mirror shape is described. The method enables one to find deviation of the real shape of the reflecting-surface from the ideal shape to within 10 μrad.

Shapes and Measures of Shape

1978
If we are to construe morphometrics as the measurement of shapes, we need to know what shapes are and how we get them into position to be worked on by our tools. Our appreciation of shapes is conditioned by properties of the Euclidean space in which we live with them and by their mode of biological production.

Wafer Shape Measurement Investigations

2013
Analytical investigations on solar wafer shape properties (i.e., bow, warp, and sori) are presented. Different wafer shape measurement methods were tested and compared: a commercial wafer gauge (E+H Metrology) for off-line wafer inspection, an in-line wafer inspection tool (Hennecke) based on laser-optical measurement, and surface profilometry.

Shape Factor in Particle-Size Measurement

Nature, 1949
WE have had occasion to separate alumina powder into uniformly sized groups for testing fuel niters, and to measure the particle-size microscopically. It seemed likely that a measurement of a linear dimension together with a factor describing the shape of the particles would be the most useful parameters to correlate with filter performance, since ...
