Study of roughness measurement of the square end mill processing side by an optical penetration type replica method

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
In this study, the replica of the metal processing surface was manufactured using the transparent silicone. Set for the new method for measurement using the transparence replica, it can get various characteristics by a processing method.

Measuring shape rectangularity

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2011
A new method for measuring shape rectangularity is introduced. The new shape measure is invariant with respect to similarity transformations, ranges over the interval (0,1] and picks the value 1 if and only if the measured shape is a rectangle. The measure is theoretically well founded and has a clear geometric meaning, i.e.

A Fast Shape-from-Focus-Based Surface Topography Measurement Method

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Shape from focus is an accurate, but relatively time-consuming, 3D profilometry technique (compared to e.g., laser triangulation or fringe projection). This is the case because a large amount of data that needs to be captured and processed to obtain 3D ...

COMPUTING GLOBAL SHAPE MEASURES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Global shape measures are a convenient way to describe regions. They are generally simple and efficient to extract, and provide an easy means for high level tasks such as classification as well as helping direct low-level computer vision processes such as segmentation.

Plant cell shape: modulators and measurements [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2013
Plant cell shape, seen as an integrative output, is of considerable interest in various fields, such as cell wall research, cytoskeleton dynamics and biomechanics. In this review we summarize the current state of knowledge on cell shape formation in plants focusing on shape of simple cylindrical cells, as well as in complex multipolar cells such as ...

Upper limb dimensions in adults presenting for elective surgery – implications for blood pressure measurement

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2020
Background Arm conicity is associated with non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) measurement error and may be avoided by using finger cuffs. Predicting arm conicity may help decisions regarding NIBP measurement techniques.

A structured-light 3D sensor-based shape measurement method for casting allowance evaluation

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
The evaluation of casting allowance currently relies on manual operation, which is time-consuming and unstable. The structured-light three-dimensional (3D) sensor-based 3D shape measurement technology is characterized by non-contact, high accuracy, and ...

Making pipe-undulation shape measurement highly accurate by a pipe inner-wall shape sensor

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
We have investigated reconstruction of the pipe-undulation shape throughout the length of a pipe from the measured data of the interior profiles by using a laser-beam scanning sensor.

Shape constancy measured by a canonical-shape method

open access: yesVision Research, 2014
Shape constancy is the ability to perceive that a shape remains the same when seen in different orientations. It has usually been measured by asking subjects to match a shape in the frontal plane with an inclined shape. But this method is subject to ambiguity.
