A Computational Model of Multidimensional Shape [PDF]
We develop a computational model of shape that extends existing Riemannian models of curves to multidimensional objects of general topological type. We construct shape spaces equipped with geodesic metrics that measure how costly it is to interpolate two shapes through elastic deformations.

Localized Shape Modelling with Global Coherence: An Inverse Spectral Approach
Many natural shapes have most of their characterizing features concentrated over a few regions in space. For example, humans and animals have distinctive head shapes, while inorganic objects like chairs and airplanes are made of well-localized functional

Modelling of human torso shape variation inferred by geometric morphometrics
Traditional body measurement techniques are commonly used to assess physical health; however, these approaches do not fully represent the complex shape of the human body.

Magma reservoir growth and ground deformation preceding the 79 CE Plinian eruption of Vesuvius
The 79 CE eruption of Vesuvius is the first documented Plinian eruption, also famous for the archaeological ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Although much is known regarding the eruption dynamics and magma reservoir, little is known about the reservoir ...

We present a method to compute the conditional distribution of a statistical shape model given partial data. The result is a "posterior shape model", which is again a statistical shape model of the same form as the original model. This allows its direct use in the variety of algorithms that include prior knowledge about the variability of a class of ...

Modeling spatial patterns of shapes [PDF]
We introduce a framework for modeling spatial patterns of shapes formed by multiple objects in an image. Our approach is graph-based where each node denotes an object and attributes of a node consist of that object's shape, position, orientation, and scale.

3D Morphometric and posture study of felid scapulae using statistical shape modelling.
We present a three dimensional (3D) morphometric modelling study of the scapulae of Felidae, with a focus on the correlations between forelimb postures and extracted scapular shape variations.

Dummy-atom modelling of stacked and helical nanostructures from solution scattering data
The availability of dummy-atom modelling programs to determine the shape of monodisperse globular particles from small-angle solution scattering data has led to outstanding scientific advances.

Shape-function modelling of horse hoof [PDF]
Hoof injury is a threat to the modern sports horse and to the racing horse industry. The shape of the hoof wall is believed to be important in achieving optimal force distribution (i.e. balance) within the foot.
