Chebyshev splines and shape parameters

Numerical Algorithms, 1997
The splines considered depend on two parameters \(p\), \(\alpha\), and are defined on \([0, 1]\) as those polynomials that satisfy \[ F'''(0)/p- 2\alpha F''(0)/p^2+ 2\alpha^2F'(0)/p^3= F'''(1)/(p+\alpha)- 2\alpha F''(1)/(p+ \alpha)^2+ 2\alpha^2 F'(1)/(p+ \alpha)^3; \] one applies to this space the formulas that give derivatives of vector functions in ...

Shape parameter optimization for Adaboosted active shape model

Tenth IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV'05) Volume 1, 2005
Active shape model (ASM) has been shown to be a powerful tool to aid the interpretation of images, especially in face alignment. ASM local appearance model parameter estimation is based on the assumption that residuals between model fit and data have a Gaussian distribution.

TESTING THE SHAPE PARAMETER IN GAMMA DISTRIBUTION

Far East Journal of Theoretical Statistics, 2017
Summary: The gamma distribution is widely used in engineering and industrial applications. Hypothesis testing of the shape parameter is revisited in the two-parameter gamma distribution when the scale parameter is known. The likelihood ratio test is implemented by simulating the distribution of the likelihood ratio statistic under the null hypothesis ...

Semiparametric Distributions With Estimated Shape Parameters

Pharmaceutical Research, 2009
To investigate the use of adaptive transformations to assess the parameter distributions in population modeling. The logit, box-cox, and heavy tailed transformations were investigated. Each one was used in conjunction with the standard (exponential) transformation for PK and PD parameters.

Bézier curves and surfaces with shape parameters

International Journal of Computer Mathematics, 2009
Bezier curves with n shape parameters and triangular Bezier surfaces with 3n(n+1)/2 shape parameters are presented in this paper. The geometric significance of the shape parameters and the geometric properties of these curves and surfaces are discussed.

Pose Parameter Estimation and Shape Distance

2008 International Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering, 2008
In this paper, a pose parameter estimation method is proposed, which provides an effective solution for the local optimal pose parameters problem in the shape distance measurements based on various level set based shape distance energy functions. To acquire invariance, explicit pose parameters representing translation, scaling and rotation are adopted ...

Shape parameter deletion for Pólya curves

Numerical Algorithms, 1991
This paper presents a simply change of basis technique for transforming one type of Pólya curves to another closely related Pólya curve form. Repeated use of this method yields algorithms for transforming one arbitrary Pólya form to another, as well as algorithms for evaluating, subdividing and differentiating Pólya curves.

Shape deformations with meaningful parameters and constraints

Proceedings Shape Modeling Applications, 2004., 2004
The emerged computer-aided industrial design (CAID) systems gain increasing popularity among industrial designers. Despite the large number of deformation techniques already implemented in commercial systems or described in the literature, these techniques still lack in providing designers with meaningful shape deformations tools.

On Families of Distributions with Shape Parameters

International Statistical Review, 2014
SummaryUnivariate continuous distributions are one of the fundamental components on which statistical modelling, ancient and modern, frequentist and Bayesian, multi‐dimensional and complex, is based. In this article, I review and compare some of the main general techniques for providing families of typically unimodal distributions on with one or two ...

Learning Shape Trends: Parameter Estimation in Diffusions on Shape Manifolds

2017 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Workshops (CVPRW), 2017
Learning the dynamics of shape is at the heart of many computer vision problems: object tracking, change detection, longitudinal shape analysis, trajectory classification, etc. In this work we address the problem of statistical inference of diffusion processes of shapes.
