Phase Locked Loop gain shaping for gigahertz operation

2004 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37512), 2004
The paper presents a novel concept of gain shaping in charge-pump based Phase Locked Loops. The gain shaping involves processing ICO control current in two parallel paths of low and high frequency. By effectively lowering VCO gain at high frequencies, as compared to a standard design, larger immunity to noise sources is obtained. The gain shaping block

A gain-shape vector quantizer for image coding

ICASSP '86. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
The design of a gain-shape vector quantizer (GSVQ) for image coding that gives significantly improved image quality over basic VQ is presented. The quantizer is a spatial domain quantizer belonging to the class of product code VQ called mean-residual vector quantizers (MRVQ). In MRVQ the basic vector space of image blocks is transformed into a space of

Predictive entropy coding of gain-shape VQ parameters

1995 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2002
This paper presents a novel video coding algorithm which exploits past frame statistics for entropy coding of the gain-shape VQ parameters. A subband transform has been used to decorrelate the motion compensation residual in order to overcome the block visibility problem. The vectors with samples from different subbands are quantised using a gain-shape

E- and H-shaped high gain patch antennas

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2015
Two microstrip patch antenna designs in the range of 11–17 GHz are simulated and fabricated. The proposed designs have advantages over the conventional E- and H-shaped designs in terms of gain and return loss. An input match of −40.5 dB at 11.94 GHz, and intermediate gain of 10.0 dB is achieved at 14.85 GHz. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt

Watermarking with Visual Cryptography and Gain-Shape VQ

2009
Employing the concept of visual cryptography to design a watermarking scheme is introduced in this chapter. A modified visual cryptography is applied to split the genuine watermark into two shadow watermarks. The gain-shape vector quantisation (GSVQ) procedure is then performed to encode the cover image.

Unlocking the Shaping Gain in Unamplified Coherent Links

Advanced Photonics Congress 2024
The benefits of probabilistic constellation shaping in unamplified links are still under debate, putting into question Maxwell-Boltzmann (MB)-based PCS. We optimize the probability mass function and demonstrate gains of 4.2 dB at 400 Gbit/s.
