Anthropogenic Forcing Amplifies Concurrent Risk of Pluvial Pakistan–Hot Yangtze

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract During July–August 2022, Pakistan (PKT) experienced catastrophic flooding while the Yangtze River Basin (YRB) endured unprecedented heatwaves. While previous studies have examined the physical teleconnections, there remains a critical gap in quantifying the role of anthropogenic forcing in shaping such trans‐regional concurrent extremes. Here,

Understanding the Impact of Precipitation Bias‐Correction and Statistical Downscaling Methods on Projected Changes in Flood Extremes

open access: yesEarth's Future
This study evaluates five bias correction and statistical downscaling (BCSD) techniques for daily precipitation and examines their impacts on the projected changes in flood extremes (i.e., 1%, 0.5%, and 0.2% floods). We use climate model outputs from the

Climate Change Impacts on Hydrology in the Upper James Watershed, Virginia

open access: yesJAWRA Journal of the American Water Resources Association, Volume 62, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Hydrological modeling of the Upper James Watershed (UJW), Virginia, is critical for predicting water availability, flood management, agriculture, ecosystem protection, and hydropower production under increasing climate change. The Hydrologic Engineering Center–Hydrologic Modeling System (HEC‐HMS) is applied to evaluate climate change impacts ...

Narrative and quantitative analysis of democratic principles in the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways

open access: yesnpj Climate Action
Although climate action is highly intertwined with governance structures, climate policy modelling science has been argued to insufficiently reflect political processes.

EU climate futures: estimating harvested wood product carbon stocks under forest sector shared socioeconomic pathways in northern and alpine Europe

open access: yesCarbon Management
This study examines the carbon stocks dynamics of harvested wood products (HWPs) and their implications for European forest-based climate mitigation strategies, focusing on Northern and Alpine regions.

Spatial Mismatches of Plant‐Pollinator Interactions Under Future Climate Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 53, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Global change could disrupt critical ecological interactions, especially if interacting species shift their geographic ranges at different rates or in different directions. Functional redundancy within generalized networks could make them more resilient to climate change than networks with highly specialized interactions.

Spatiotemporal changes in future precipitation of Afghanistan for shared socioeconomic pathways

open access: yesHeliyon
Global warming induces spatially heterogeneous changes in precipitation patterns, highlighting the need to assess these changes at regional scales.

Global Warming Forecast Using Shared Socioeconomic Pathway (SSP) and Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP)

open access: yes
This study aims at delineating specific proven features of climate change in the Sultanate of Oman since 1950, and also highlighting potential features of the climate change in the Sultanate of Oman up to 2150 under the worst future scenario of SSP5-8.5 (the unsustainable Fifth Shared Socioeconomic Pathway “Fossil-fueled development - Taking the ...

Urban Heat Island in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East: Multi‐City Approach in Regional Climate Modelling

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 4, 30 March 2026.
This study presents that the WRF model, coupled with bulk urban parameterization, effectively captures the summer urban heat island (UHI) patterns across the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, showing stronger night‐time surface UHIs (5°C–6°C) and daytime surface cool islands (up to 12.5°C).
