Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Impacts of the invasive alien plant species Caesalpinia decapetala on plant community diversity and composition in Alta Wondo District, Southern Zone, Sidama Region, Ethiopia

open access: yesSustinere: Journal of Environment and Sustainability
Caesalpinia decapetala has been ranked as a high-impact invasive alien plant species in Ethiopia. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the impact of Caesalpinia decapetala on species diversity and the composition of invaded plant ...

The Responsibility to Share: Sharing the Responsibility [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Research, 2004
domains or epitope tags). This flexibility means that initial clone sets will become the basis for many rounds of subcloning to permit finer experimental definition of function. The simplicity of these methods and the growth of bioinformatics and robotics facilitate production of large-scale clone sets whose experimental value increases geometrically ...

Wages, profits and rent-sharing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The paper suggests a new test for rent-sharing in the U.S. labor market. Using an unbalanced panel from the manufacturing sector, it shows that a rise in a sector's profitability leads after some years to an increase in the long-run level of wages in ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Editorial

open access: yesInternet Archaeology, 2004
Issue 14 has closed with another great mix of research articles. The last, by Mike Heyworth, on blogs and feeds might be the shortest but informs us about an emerging and potentially crucial technology that is allowing us to keep up right to date with ...

TO SHARE OR NOT TO SHARE

open access: yes, 2017
We observe a rise of new business models that embed different forms of sharing. This topic has hardly been picked up by innovation research and particularly in the user innovation research community, except for online open-source communities. This paper sets out to link users’ sharing behavior to users’ innovation behavior.

To Share or Not to Share: Demand Forecast Sharing in a Distribution Channel [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2014
This paper studies information sharing in a distribution channel where the manufacturer possesses better demand-forecast information than the downstream retailer. We examine three information-sharing formats: no information sharing (i.e., the manufacturer ex ante commits to not sharing its forecast), voluntary information sharing (i.e., the ...
