Application of Surrogate Modeling in Stochastic Analysis of an Ogee Spillway Structure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, Volume 5, Issue 2, Page 290-311, June 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the hydraulic performance of an Ogee spillway under varying flow rate conditions, gate opening heights, and spillway widths. Numerical simulations using Flow‐3D, incorporating the (k‐ε) turbulence model and Large Eddy Simulation (LES), were employed alongside surrogate models using MATLAB codes and LP‐TAU to predict ...

Unsteady flow past a sharp crested weir

open access: yes, 2017
The present study focuses on the numerical simulation of flow past a rectangular sharp crested weir. A commercial software Star-CCM+ is used for the purpose. The governing equations are the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations.

Hydraulic Experimental Evaluation of Free and Submerged Flow over Compound Weir of Circular-Rectangular

open access: yesعلوم آب و خاک, 2022
A compound sharp-crested weir is often used to measure a wide range of flows with appropriate accuracy in open channels. In this study, experiments were performed to investigate the hydraulic flow through a compound weir of circular-rectangular with ...

Numerical Investigation of Guide Walls Geometry at the Entrance of Dam Spillway (Case Study: Karun-3 Dam)

open access: yesعلوم آب و خاک, 2022
One of the most important hydraulic structures in a dam is the spillway. The design of the ogee spillway crest is based on the lower profile of the free-flow jet passing through the sharp-crested weir.

The broad-crested weir

open access: yes, 2020
The purpose of this practical is to investigate: the rapidly varying flow in the vicinity of a broad-crested weir, the flow transition between sub-critical and super-critical flows, and the basic concepts of hydraulic controls, specific energy and ...

A Study of pressure fluctuation caused by hydraulic jump in stilling basin [PDF]

open access: yesمهندسی منابع آب, 2018
A stilling basin is one of the energy dissipaters downstream of a spillway. The place of maximum pressure caused by jet impact and the effect of various factors on the amount and location of pressure are important factors in designing of stilling basin ...

Experimental investigation on sharp crested rectangular weirs

open access: yes, 2020
Sharp crested rectangular weirs used for discharge measurement purposes in open channel hydraulics are investigated experimentally. A series of experiments were conducted by measuring discharge and head over the weir for different weir heights for full width weir. It is seen that after a certain weir height, head and discharge relation does not change.

Discharge Coefficient of Broad Crested Weir [PDF]

open access: yes, 1962
Several mathematical Studies have been attempted to calculate a discharge coefficient of a broad crested weir by some reseachers. Those investigations follow from the assumption that a curvature of a stream line in the spilling flow varies linearly ...
