Unsteady Stage-Discharge Relationships for Sharp-Crested Weirs
Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 2020AbstractCurrently, discharges passing measurement devices and structures in unsteady flow conditions are determined based on relationships developed for steady flow condition due to lack of suffici...

Sharp-crested weir located at the end of a circular channel
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Water Management, 2017Sharp-crested weirs are frequently used for discharge measurements in open channels. They offer a simple, reliable and accurate flow measurement approach if they are properly installed and maintained. Suppressed weirs can be installed in channels with different shapes. The standard suppressed rectangular weir is well documented in the literature.

Experimental Investigation of Arched Sharp-Crested Weir Flow and Comparing it with Rectangular Weir
Iranian Journal of Science and Technology, Transactions of Civil Engineering, 2020The hydraulic behavior of the arched sharp-crested weirs is investigated and compared with rectangular weirs in this research. For this purpose, a laboratory study was made on a physical model, including weirs with four different arc lengths each with five different heights.

The calibration of sharp crested weirs by the pondage drawdown method
Journal of Hydrology, 1977Abstract The paper outlines the problems of calibrating flow measuring structures by conventional techniques. The principle of the pondage drawdown method of calibration is described and the accuracy of the method determined by application to a 90° V notch sharp crested weir.

FLOW OVER INCLINED SHARP CRESTED TRIANGULAR WEIR
ISH Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2003ABSTRACT In the field of Hydraulic Engineering, Irrigation Engineering and Chemical Engineering the weirs and notches find their use as a device for discharge measurement and flow control. The plane of these weirs/notches has been standardized to be normal to the flow axis both ways.

Flow measurement using circular sharp-crested weirs
Flow Measurement and Instrumentation, 2010Abstract Circular sharp-crested weirs are used as a flow-measuring device in open channels, reservoirs or tanks. The theoretical discharge equation of a circular thin weir ends up the complete elliptic integrals of the first and second kinds that are not very suitable for practical purposes due to their complexity. No simple and accurate equation

Head-Discharge Equation for Sharp-Crested Polynomial Weir
Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 2008Polynomial weirs can be applied in agricultural and municipal engineering to produce a wide range of head-discharge behavior, including the proportional (linear) characteristics of the Sutro weir. This note describes a method to determine the head-discharge equations of sharp-crested weirs with openings defined by polynomials of any order n .

GEP Modeling of Penetration Depth in Sharp Crested Weirs
Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2011Aeration in the waters of rivers and streams is very important to the existence and quality of aquatic life. Aeration is the process by which the area of contact between water and air is increased, either by natural methods or by mechanical devices. Contact time between water and air is also very important. Increasing the contact time of air bubbles is

Flow over Sharp-Crested Trapezoidal Planform Weirs
2017The most common structure for discharge measurement in streams is a weir. Generally, they are used as normal weirs which allow water to pass gradually over their crest, causing submergence due to afflux at upstream. For passing more discharge with low head, the weirs of different planforms were recommended to improve their discharge capability with ...
