Sharpness in Interval Computations
Reliable Computing, 1997If \(f(x)\) is an arithmetic expression for the multivariate rational function \(f\), the interval extension \(f(X)\) arises from \(f(x)\) by replacing the variable \(x\) by the interval or interval variable \(X\). In general, \(f(X)\) is a proper superset of the range of \(f\) over \(X\).

Sharp Jackson and Sharp Marchaud Inequalities
2014The goal of this chapter is to prove two inequalities, the sharp Jackson inequality and the sharp Marchaud inequality, for the h-harmonic expansions on the sphere \(\mathbb{S}^{d-1}\), which are useful in the embedding theory of function spaces. The multiplier theorem and the Littlewood–Paley inequality established in the prior chapter play crucial ...

How sharp is sharp? The effect of monocular texture on enhancing sharpness [PDF]
Stereopsis is the process that recovers depth from binocular disparities. Traditional theories of stereopsis are based on the assumption that depth is extracted by matching binocularly visible image features. This assumption fails to acknowledge scenarios where objects occlude more distant objects or surfaces, to different extents in the two eyes. This

This article examined an intergenerational interaction from a popular television show in two ways. First, a detailed textual analysis illustrated (a) the salience of age in the interaction, (b) (counter-) stereotypical elements of the older adults’ portrayal, (c) intergenerational connections achieved within the interaction, and (d) the use of age ...
