Shear Thinning and Orientational Ordering of Wormlike Micelles
Physical Review Letters, 2005Shear thinning and orientation of cylindrical surfactant and block copolymer micelles was investigated by rheo-SANS (small-angle neutron scattering) experiments. Shear thinning and orientation occur for shear rates (.)gamma tau(dis)>>1, where tau(dis) is the disentanglement time of the micelles.

Shear thinning of colloidal dispersions
Journal of Rheology, 1998In this paper we calculate numerically the shear induced distortion of the equilibrium microstructure in a dilute colloidal suspension. In the low density limit, our predictions both with and without hydrodynamic interactions follow the form of the Ree–Eyring equation for the shear rate dependence of the rheology.

Mesoscale modeling of shear-thinning polymer solutions

A Modification of Murray's Law for Shear-Thinning Rheology
Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 2015This study reformulates Murray's well-known principle of minimum work as applied to the cardiovascular system to include the effects of the shear-thinning rheology of blood. The viscous behavior is described using the extended modified power law (EMPL), which is a time-independent, but shear-thinning rheological constitutive equation.

A volume-of-fluid numerical method is used to predict the dynamics of drop formation from a nozzle with a circular exit, directed vertically downwards in air, when the drop fluid is shear-thinning. The validity of the numerical calculation is first confirmed for a Newtonian fluid by comparison with experimental measurements.
