Nonlinear Electrophoresis of Microparticles in Shear Thinning Fluids
LangmuirThe nonlinear electric field dependence of particle electrophoresis has been demonstrated to occur in Newtonian fluids for highly charged particles under large electric fields. It has also been predicted to arise from the rheological effects of non-Newtonian fluids even at small electric fields.

Exponential attractor for a planar shear‐thinning flow
Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2007AbstractWe study the dynamics of an incompressible, homogeneous fluid of a power‐law type, with the stress tensor T = ν(1 + µ|Dv|)p−2Dv, where Dv is a symmetric velocity gradient. We consider the two‐dimensional problem with periodic boundary conditions and p ∈ (1, 2).

A volume-of-fluid numerical method is used to predict the dynamics of drop formation from a nozzle with a circular exit, directed vertically downwards in air, when the drop fluid is shear-thinning. The validity of the numerical calculation is first confirmed for a Newtonian fluid by comparison with experimental measurements.
