Piv study of mixing characteristics in a stirred vessel with a non-Newtonian fluid [PDF]
PIV is used to analyze the flow induced by a Rushton turbine in a shear-thinning fluid, at constant input power, constant impeller velocity but different concentrations. The rheology of each shear-thinning fluid is first addressed.

Shear Thinning and Local Melting of Colloidal Crystals [PDF]
Phenomena such as shear thinning and thickening, occurring when complex materials are exposed to external forces, are generally believed to be closely connected to changes in the microstructure. Here, we establish a direct and quantitative relation between shear thinning in a colloidal crystal and the surface area of the locally melted region by ...

Droplet breakup driven by shear thinning solutions in a microfluidic T-Junction [PDF]
Droplet-based microfluidics turned out to be an efficient and adjustable platform for digital analysis, encapsulation of cells, drug formulation, and polymerase chain reaction.

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Global regularity properties of steady shear thinning flows
In this paper we study the regularity of weak solutions to systems of p-Stokes type, describing the motion of some shear thinning fluids in certain steady regimes.

Effect of microchannel aspect ratio on residence time distributions and the axial dispersion coefficient [PDF]
The effect of microchannel aspect ratio (channel depth/channel width) on residence time distributions and the axial dispersion coefficient have been investigated for Newtonian and shear thinning non-Newtonian flow using computational fluid dynamics.

This study investigates the tribological response of 60NiTi alloy under dry, water‐lubricated and high‐temperature conditions. The alloy exhibits decreasing wear volume and friction with increasing temperature due to the formation of protective oxide layers. The work clarifies dominant wear mechanisms and demonstrates the suitability of 60NiTi for high‐
