The Influence of Shearing Velocity on Shear Behavior of Artificial Joints

Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, 2013
In this paper, the effects of shear velocity on the shearing behavior of artificial joints have been studied at different normal stress levels. Here, artificial joints with planar and rough surfaces were prepared with the plaster (simulating soft rock joints) and concrete (medium-hard rock joints) materials.

The Behavior of Fabrics in Shear

Textile Research Journal, 1966
A new instrumental method for the analysis of the stress-strain behavior of fabrics in shear has been designed which utilizes the Instron and its automatic recording. It is similar in principle to the laboratory method previously employed by Treloar.

Critical behavior of entropic shear rigidity

Physical Review E, 2006
We report on extensive molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of a model for gels in both two and three dimensions. The model consists of randomly cross-linked monomers with a concentration p of cross-links above the percolation concentration so that the system is in the amorphous solid phase. As the concentration of cross-links approaches the percolation

Shear Behavior of Woven Fabrics

Textile Research Journal, 1989
In an experimental study on the shear behavior of both gray and finished wool and wool blend woven fabrics, we have investigated the effects of finishing and wetting and changes in four shear parameters—initial shear modulus Go, frictional shear stress σ o , shear rigidity G, and residual ...

Postbuckling Behavior of Composite Shear Webs

AIAA Journal, 1980
In this paper the postbuckling behavior of multibay composite shear webs is explored. Several test specimens are designed through the use of advanced state of the art design methods taking into account material anisotropy. The panels are subjected to static as well as fatigue loading in a series of well instrumented and carefully conducted tests to ...

“Unexpected” shear-wave behavior

Geophysics, 1997
Abstract In a previous study, we inverted shear-wave birefringence observations from an azimuthal vertical seismic profile (VSP) experiment conducted at the Conoco Borehole Test Facility, Oklahoma (Horne and MacBeth, 1994; Horne, 1995).

Shear Behavior of Strengthened Beams

2018
Strengthening the reinforced concrete elements using polymer fibers continues to interest many researchers. In this context, an experimental study has been completed to evaluate the reinforcement on shear behavior of beams. Different fiber band positions were applied to beams in nodal zones. The four-point bending tests have been performed. The results

Shear behavior of shear stud groups in precast concrete decks

Engineering Structures, 2019
Abstract In order to study the shear behavior of a group of shear studs placed on a composite beam, a total of 16 pushout tests were conducted, including 4 specimens with cast-in-place (CIP) concrete decks and 12 specimens with precast concrete (PC) decks.

Behavior and properties of shear bands

Polymer Engineering & Science, 1984
AbstractSome recent observations on shear bands in polymers are reviewed. These include intrinsic properties such as the mechanism of formation, the intersection of shear bands, the rate of propagation with and without obstacles, recovery of shear strain by annealing, and the stored energy in shear bands. Mechanical responses include the shear yielding

Investigation on shear behavior of soft interlayers by ring shear tests

Engineering Geology, 2019
Abstract Most soft interlayers tend to be key factors affecting rock slope stability due to their low strengths. A series of ring shear tests is conducted on reconstituted overconsolidated soft interlayers to investigate the influences of remolded water content and normal stress on shear behavior under drained conditions.
