Behavior of Tilted Angle Shear Connectors

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2015
According to recent researches, angle shear connectors are appropriate to transfer longitudinal shear forces across the steel-concrete interface. Angle steel profile has been used in different positions as L-shaped or C-shaped shear connectors. The application of angle shear connectors in tilted positions is of interest in this study.

Effect of Loading Conditions on the Shear Behaviors of Rock-like Materials Containing Circular Holes, with the CZM Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The mechanical behaviors of rock masses are significantly affected by the distribution and shape of the holes in it. In this research, the fracture mechanism and the shear properties of rock masses containing holes were investigated by the cohesive zone ...

Linear instability of planar shear banded flow of both diffusive and non-diffusive Johnson-Segalman fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We consider the linear stability of shear banded planar Couette flow of the Johnson-Segalman fluid, with and without the addition of stress diffusion to regularise the equations.

Behavior of Ferrocement Reinforced Concrete Beams Incorporating Waste Glass Exposed to Fire

open access: yesEng
This study is an experiment that looks at what happens when 18 supported reinforced concrete beams with waste glass inside them are put on fire. All the supported beams were tested under a three-point load. We classified the beams into three groups based

SHEAR BEHAVIOR OF TRAPEZOIDAL BEAMS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Al-Azhar University Engineering Sector, 2017
Extensive research has been carried out on the behavior and shear strength of reinforced concrete beams. The available literature is voluminous and the state of the art review is given elsewhere. Numerous tests on beams have been conducted and reported in the literature. Many theories for predicting the shear strength have been advanced.

Bolted shear connectors in steel–concrete composite structures: Shear behavior

open access: yesStructures, 2023
The use of bolted shear connectors is of great importance to the sustainable development of steel–concrete composite structures. In this paper, an experimental program consisting of four push-out specimens is performed to investigate the effects of bolt length and fabrication method of concrete slabs on the shear behavior of single-nut embedded bolted ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Behavior of granular materials under cyclic shear [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2005
The design and development of a parallel plate shear cell for the study of large scale shear flows in granular materials is presented. The parallel plate geometry allows for shear studies without the effects of curvature found in the more common Couette experiments.
