Melt Grafting of Geometry‐Tailored Voltage Stabilizers for High‐Performance Polypropylene Insulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable one‐step melt grafting strategy is developed to enhance the dielectric properties of isotactic polypropylene by covalently incorporating thermally stable aromatic voltage stabilizers. This solvent‐free approach improves volume resistivity and DC breakdown strength through deep trap formation and charge localization, offering a sustainable ...

Experimental and DEM Investigation of Shear Behaviors of a Loess and Rough Concrete Interface

open access: yesBuildings
A series of shear interface experiments on a type of loess and rough concrete interface under conditions of different initial water contents (16%, 21%, and 26%), dry densities (1.30 g/cm3, 1.52 g/cm3, 1.70 g/cm3) and normal stresses (50 kPa, 100 kPa, 200

Multilayer Soft Photonic Arrays Inspired by Cephalopod Skin for High‐Density, Independent, and Multimodal Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A vertically stacked, DEA‐driven photonic array inspired by cephalopod skin, featuring highly crystalline colloidal crystal gels with vivid color, low FWHM and scalability is presented. The multilayer design removes lateral pixel interference, achieving near‐100% fill factor with fully independent RGB actuation.

Viscoelasticity‐Induced Controllable Periodic Meso‐Textures of Liquid Crystal Polymers in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Viscoelasticity‐driven instabilities are harnessed to create tunable, periodic textures in 3D‐printed liquid crystalline polymers. This study illustrates how processing parameters control these spontaneous meso‐scale patterns. These unique structural architectures unlock new possibilities for functional devices, ranging from photonic components to ...

An omnidirectional shear horizontal wave transducer based on ring array of face-shear (d24) piezoelectric ceramics

open access: yes, 2016
The non-dispersive fundamental shear horizontal (SH0) wave in plate-like structures is of practical importance in non-destructive testing (NDT) and structural health monitoring (SHM).

Toughening β‐Ga2O3 via Mechanically Seeded Dislocations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
β‐Ga2O3 is promising for next‐generation semiconductors but its brittleness limits flexible and high‐precision applications. Here, mechanically seeded dislocations introduced by surface deformation improved damage tolerance in (001) β‐Ga2O3. Nanoindentation and characterization show dislocations suppress cleavage cracks by enabling stable plastic ...

Dynamic shear failure strength of loess under complex stress

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The undisturbed loess is significantly vulnerable to structural and dynamic damages. The earthquake-induced dynamic shear can destroy the original structure of the loess, causing soil particles to rearrange and compact, which macroscopically appears as ...

Analysis of laminated doubly-curved shells by alayerwise theory and radial basis functions collocation, accounting for through-the-thickness deformations

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, the static and free vibration analysis of laminated shells is performed by radial basis functions collocation, according to a sinusoidal shear deformation theory (SSDT).
