Shear deformation potentials in metals
Surface Science, 1973Abstract The differential approach, based on the Green's function method and the muffin-tin approximation for the crystal potential, which was proposed recently as a convenient method of obtaining accurate deformation potentials in metals is discussed briefly here with particular emphasis on the relation of the method to stress-modulation experiments.

Shear Deformation in Beams on Elastic Foundations
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1962The importance of the effect of transverse shear deformation in the flexure of an elastic beam of symmetric cross section, constrained by a Winkler-type elastic foundation, is found to depend upon both the elastic properties of the beam and the foundation and the geometry of the beam cross section.

Shear Deformation and Buckling of Columns
Applied Mechanics Reviews, 1991It is shown that the prediction of buckling loads of columns that are very weak in shear is crucially dependent on the choice of direction for the axial load of the column in the buckled configuration. Examples are given showing the wide differences in buckling load predicted by different choices.
