Time-resolved PIV investigation of the secondary instability of cross-flow vortices
Time-resolved PIV measurements of the secondary instability modes of cross-flow vortices are presented. Measurements are performed on a large scale 45o swept wing at chord Reynolds number of 2.17 million in a low turbulence wind-tunnel facility.

Decay of Vorticity in Separated Shear Layer [PDF]
In this study, process of vorticity decay caused by viscous interaction in a separated shear layer was investigated based on velocity measurements and flow visualization of the separated shear layer in the very vicinity of the separation point of a test ...

Structure of unsteady stably stratified turbulence with mean shear.
The statistics of unsteady turbulence with uniform stratification N (Brunt–Väisälä frequency) and shear α(=dU1/dx3) are analysed over the entire time range (00 and \it Ri>0.25 respectively, oscillatory momentum and positive and negative density fluxes ...

Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Shear stress in arterial stenoses : a momentum integral model
A mathematical model is developed to investigate blood flow in arterial stenoses up to Reynolds numbers of 1000. The approach is based on Thwaites' method, normally used to treat laminar boundary layer development over a body in a freestream.

This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...
