Genesis and reservoir preservation mechanism of 10 000‐m ultradeep dolomite in Chinese craton basin

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Potential exploration target stratum of 10 000‐m ultradeep dolomite in Sichuan Basin and Tarim Basin, China. Abstract The 10 000‐m ultradeep dolomite reservoir holds significant potential as a successor field for future oil and gas exploration in China's marine craton basin.

An analytical solution of direction evolution of crack growth during progressive failure in brittle rocks

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A novel analytical method is proposed to evaluate the shear stress effect on the progressive compressive failure and microcrack growth direction in brittle rocks. The shear stress effect on the wing crack growth direction during the progressive compressive failure is determined. The initial crack angle effect on the y‐direction peak stress and the wing

The Non-Organic Theory of the Genesis of Petroleum [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1996
Recent advances in interdisciplinary fields as diverse as astrophysics, cosmogeophysics, nuclear geology, etc. have led to interesting developments in the non-organic theory of the genesis of petroleum. This theory, which holds that petroleum is of an abiogenic primordial origin, provides an explanation for certain features of petroleum geology that ...

Analysis of squeezing‐induced failure in a water tunnel and measure of rehabilitation: A case study of Tishreen tunnel, Syria

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Different failure modes observed in Tishreen tunnel include Floor heave, wall spalling, crashing of slab, and lining convergence reaching the failure limit. Abstract Squeezing phenomena can lead to severe loads in deep tunnels, especially in the presence of a low ratio of surrounding rock strength to overburden pressure.

Seismic performance of concrete tunnel–sand–pile interaction by the shake table test

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This research presents the square root sum of squares response of displacements and tunnel moments under the Kobe and Loma Prieta seismic excitations with a peak ground acceleration of 0.05 g for various dry relative densities of local sand in Bangladesh.

Generating Realistic Geology Conditioned on Physical Measurements with Generative Adversarial Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
An important problem in geostatistics is to build models of the subsurface of the Earth given physical measurements at sparse spatial locations. Typically, this is done using spatial interpolation methods or by reproducing patterns from a reference image.

Geology, fluid inclusions, isotope geochemistry, and geochronology of the Paishanlou shear zone-hosted Gold Deposit, North China Craton

open access: yesOre Geology Reviews, 2005
Abstract The Paishanlou gold deposit lies along the northern margin of North China Craton gold province, the third largest Au province in China. The deposit is mainly hosted in Archean metamorphic rocks of the Jianping Group and is structurally controlled by two sets of ductile shear zones.

A comprehensive study on in situ stress field characteristics and changes in rock mechanical properties in deep mines in northeastern Yunnan, China

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper studies the distribution characteristics of the current in situ stress field in northeast Yunnan Province by using multisource stress data, including in situ stress measurements, focal mechanism solutions, and borehole damage information, and comprehensively determines the in situ stress magnitude and direction in the mining area.
