Shear resistance of bridge decks without shear reinforcement
2008This paper presents experimental and numerical investigations of a research project, carried out to examine whether bridge deck slabs under concentrated wheel loads exhibit reserves of shear capacity, which have been neglected in the current Eurocode design provisions so far.

Building a Shear Resistance Operator
2020Based on the axioms of the mathematical model of an inelastic body, the shear resistance in the most general case is a certain integration operator differentiation from the sliding intensity. Any local slip in the poly-crystalline body model changes the mechanical properties (almost) in all directions.

Shear resistance of reinforced laterized concrete beams without shear reinforcement
Building and Environment, 1990Abstract This paper describes tests on shear resistance and deflection characteristics of 46 reinforced concrete beams without web reinforcement, 32 of the beams are laterized concrete containing laterites at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of total fine aggregate content, 6 beam have varying percentage reinforcement 1.81%, 2.28% and 2.75% while the remaining

Shear resistance contribution of support systems in double shear test
Tunnelling and Underground Space Technology, 2016Abstract Rockbolt and surface support systems such as shotcrete and thin spray-on liners (TSLs) are widely used as underground support elements to resist the convergence and maintain the stability of excavations. In order to evaluate the bearing capacity of combined reinforced rockbolt and surface support systems in preventing sliding along ...

Shear Resistant Strength Analysis of Construction Formwork Concrete Shear Wall
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012Construction formwork concrete shear wall is one of new type of structural system. In order to study the shear resistant strength of construction formwork concrete shear wall, 21 quasi-static test results were collected, influence factors which affect the shear resistant strength of construction formwork concrete shear wall through grey-correlation ...

Fire resistance of steel shear connections
Fire Safety Journal, 2014The strength and stability of connections in a floor system is an integral part of a building structure. A connection is subjected to large compressive and tensile forces during heating and cooling phase of a fire, respectively. However, shear connections are only designed for gravity loads that produce shear, and there is a lack of knowledge in their ...

Longitudinal shear resistance of composite slabs
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings, 2014Composite slabs using cold-formed profiled steel sheeting are widely used in multi-storey steel-framed buildings. This paper presents the results from a comprehensive test programme that considers the longitudinal shear resistance of composite slabs with two types of trapezoidal profiled sheeting, where the only parameter that was varied was the yield

Shear resistance of fissured Neogene clays
Engineering Geology, 1995Abstract Two types of fissured Neogene clays (SM and WB) were tested in the laboratory using undisturbed and reconstituted specimens. Although of similar age, the clays differ in their geological history: SM clays were deposited in a marine environment, WB are lacustrine clays with a complex tectonic history.

Earthquake-resistant design of shear walls
1994A new hierarchical finite element model for the analysis of coupled shear wall-frame systems subject to earthquake forces is presented. This model can be used to study shear walls with any number of opening rows and frames with geometrical properties varying along the building height.
