CFRP Repair of RC Beams with Shear-Span and Full-Span Corrosions
Journal of Composites for Construction, 2010This paper presents experimental and analytical results of a study conducted to investigate the use of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates to rehabilitate shear-span and full-span corrosion-damaged RC beams. Fifteen RC beams were fabricated and were divided into three groups: control, shear-span, and full-span corrosions.

Critical shear span ratio of bend and shear cracking of masonry wall
2011 International Conference on Multimedia Technology, 2011Critical shear span ratio of bend and shear cracking of brick wall is studied in order to determine and control configuration of bend and shear failure of masonry bearing walls subjected to horizontal action. The concept of critical shear span ratio between bend and shear cracking is set forth firstly, and the analysis principle of critical shear span ...

Effect of shear span-to-depth ratio on shear strength components of RC beams
Engineering Structures, 2018Abstract The additive model of shear strength of reinforced concrete (RC) members, i.e. shear strength (V) is equal to the sum of the contribution from concrete (Vc) and that from transverse reinforcement (Vs), has been widely accepted in the literature and engineering practice.

AFRP Fabric Strengthening along Shear span in Shear deficient beams
International Journal on Science and TechnologyIn this study, AFRP (Aramid Fiber Reinforced Polymer) Fabric were utilized to externally strengthen the shear deficient beams in the shear span. Shear deficient beams externally strengthened with varying thickness of AFRP in Shear span and two layers of AFRP Strip of 50 mm width at the bottom of the beam are modeled and analysed.

Indirect Loading on Beams with Short Shear Spans
ACI Journal Proceedings, 1977A study of the effect of loading and supporting conditions on the behavior and ultimate shear strength of beams with short shear spans is presented. Previous experimental work by the authors has been extended to include a shear span-to-depth ratio = 2. The overall findings of the investigation are summarized.

High-Strength Concrete Deep Beams With Effective Span and Shear Span Variations
ACI Structural Journal, 1995Nineteen reinforced concrete deep beams with compressive strengths in the range of 41 MPa ≤ f' c ≤ 59 MPa (6000 psi ≤ f' c ≤ 8600 psi) were tested under two-point top loading. All the beams were singly reinforced with main steel percentage p = 1.23 percent and with nominal percentage of shear reinforcement ρ v = 0.48 percent.

Effects of stirrup ratio and shear–span ratio on shear failure of geometrically similar RC columns
Magazine of Concrete Research, 2023Very few studies have been dedicated to the size effect on the shear behaviour of reinforced concrete (RC) columns. In particular, there lacks a design equation that can quantitatively represent the effect of related parameters on the size effect on nominal shear strength for RC columns.

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2006
This paper presents results of an experimental investigation involving twelve tests on 3000 mm-long reinforced concrete (RC) T-beams strengthened in shear with externally bonded carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the following parameters on the shear performance of ...

The effect of shearing stress on the span calculations of a suspended cable
Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1923The paper presents the complete equation of a suspended cable, taking into account its density, elasticity and rigidity, and determines the extent to which the effect of shearing stress should be considered for practical span calculations. The criterion of the importance of flexural rigidity can be written in the form e=100 × 2γ=100Ed 2 D 3 /ρ(S/2)
