Shear design of HSC beams with combination of links and horizontal web steel [PDF]
The existing recommendations in Eurocode 2 and the British Code of Practice for the shear design of beams are derived from research conducted essentially on normal-strength concrete (NSC) with cube strengths up to 50 MPa, and it was found that the shear ...

Microsphere Autolithography—A Scalable Approach for Arbitrary Patterning of Dielectric Spheres
MicroSphere Autolithography (µSAL) enables scalable fabrication of patchy particles with customizable surface motifs. Focusing light through dielectric microspheres creates well defined, tunable patches via a conformal poly(dopamine) photoresist. Nearly arbitrary surface patterns can be achieved, with the resolution set by the index contrast between ...

Theoretical Study of Shear Wrinkles in Web Span

An adapted processing for solvent‐free argyrodite solid electrolyte films based on insights into degradation mechanisms of the widely used binder polytetrafluoroethylene is presented. By adapting the dry film processing, long‐term cycling in Si||NMC pouch cells is demonstrated over more than 1000 cycles with a capacity retention of more than 80%, and ...

Shear resistance of SFRSCC short-span beams without transversal reinforcements [PDF]
Abstract Corrosion of steel reinforcements, especially stirrups, is considered as one of the most common reasons that shorten the service life of the reinforced concrete structures. This study aims to replace the stirrups of the beams by means of a tailor made steel fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete (SFRSCC).

Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers as Soft Actuators
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) can be actuated via electromechanical, electrochemical, or electrothermal effects. a) Electromechanical effects include Maxwell stress, electrostriction, and the electroclinic effect. b) Electrochemical effects arise from electrode redox reactions.

Shear Performance of Horizontal Joints in Short Precast Concrete Columns with Sleeve Grouted Connections under Cyclic Loading. [PDF]
In this study, two short precast concrete columns and two cast-in-situ concrete columns were tested under cyclic loads. It was shown that the sleeve grouted connection was equivalent to the cast-in-situ connections for short columns when the axial ...

Shear performance of poplar LVL beams with a hole in bending-shear spans
Yes To investigate the shear performance of poplar laminated veneer lumber (LVL) beams with holes in bending-shear spans, six specimens were designed and tested by four-point bending tests. Among these, five specimens were provided with a single hole of varying diameter-to-height ratio in the bending-shear span and two of these beams were also ...
