Shear Strength of Montmorillonite

Géotechnique, 1970
Synopsis Artificially sedimented specimens of Wyoming bentonite (Volclay) were used to investigate the effect of physico–chemical variables on the shear strength properties of montmorillonite. Triaxial compression tests were performed on calcium and sodium montmorillonite at various electrolyte concentrations.

Shear Strength of High-Strength Bolts

Journal of the Structural Division, 1965
Double shear tests of single 7/8-in. and 1-in. high-strength bolts are reported. Altogether, ninety-six A325 bolts were tested in A7 steel jigs or in A440 steel jigs. Eighty-four A354BC, A354BD, and A490 bolts were tested in jigs made of A440 or constructional alloy steel.

Shear Strength of Ferrocement Beams

ACI Structural Journal, 1987
An experimental investigation was carried out on a total of 28 simply supported ferrocement I-beams loaded in flexure under two symmetrical point loads. The major parameters considered in the study were the shear span-to-depth ratio a/h, compressive strength of the mortar, and amount of longitudinal and transverse reinforcement.

Potential of adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system for evaluating the factors affecting steel-concrete composite beam's shear strength

, 2016
Structural design of a composite beam is influenced by two main factors, strength and ductility. For the design to be effective for a composite beam, say an RC slab and a steel I beam, the shear strength of the composite beam and ductility have to ...

Shear Bond Strength Of Cement To Zirconia

Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2009
This study investigated the shear bond strength (SBS) of various cements to zirconia ceramic.CoCr-cylinders were bonded to zirconia plates (20 mm × 10 mm × 2 mm; n = 8 per group) using four self-adhesive resin cements (one capsule, three hand-mixed) and four resin cements, partly in combination with a tribochemical/silane treatment.

Shear strength components in reinforced concrete members

, 2017
The shear strength (V) of reinforced concrete (RC) beams consists of two parts: shear resistance of concrete (Vc) and contribution of the transverse reinforcement (Vs).

Shear Strength Prediction in Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams Using Nature-Inspired Metaheuristic Support Vector Regression

Journal of computing in civil engineering, 2016
The shear strength of reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams is a dynamic phenomenon that varies with many mechanical and geometrical factors. Accurately estimating shear strength in RC deep beams is a vital issue in engineering design and management ...

Rate of Shear Effects on Vane Shear Strength

Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1985
A series of laboratory vane shear tests was performed on sedimented samples of kaolinite and slaked Pierre shale to determine the effects of shear rate and vane dimensions on measured strength. Results of the tests were expressed in terms of shear strength on a vertical plane and were plotted versus average shear rate.

Shear Strength of Soils [PDF]

open access: possible, 1998
Shear may be defined as the tendency of one part of a soil mass to slide with respect to the other. This tendency occurs on all planes throughout the soil mass. The singular plane of interest, however, is the plane of potential failure, called the plane of rupture.
