Shear Strength of Clay at Different Shear Rates [PDF]
A test procedure that involved shearing soil specimens at different shear rates was proposed to study the effect of shear rate on the strength recovery of three natural clays.

Interpretable XGBoost-SHAP Machine-Learning Model for Shear Strength Prediction of Squat RC Walls
, 2021RC shear walls are commonly used as lateral load-resisting elements in seismic regions, and the estimation of their shear strengths can become simultaneously design-critical and complex whe...

Shear strength behaviour and the measurement of shear strength in residual soils [PDF]
The selection of appropriate strength parameters and the prediction of deformation and failure are important steps in the design of foundations and cut slopes in residual soils. In countries with widespread residual soils, strength testing practice, both in the laboratory and in the field mostly follows standard procedures, employing triaxial and shear

Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1981
A practical method for estimating the shear strength of rockfill is developed. The peak drained friction angle π(prime) is found to be closely related to that of rock joints. In both cases the values of π(prime) are dependent on sample size, stress level, surface roughness, and on the uniaxial compression strength of the rock.

Shear strength and shear bands of anisotropic sand
Acta Geotechnica, 2021Due to sedimentation, irregular particles of sand arrange anisotropically in nature. Anisotropy diversifies the internal friction angles between relative research planes at different directions in soil material. Thus, to analyze the mechanical mechanism of strength anisotropy, except for conventional inherent anisotropy of the material, stress ...

Shear Strength of Montmorillonite
Géotechnique, 1970Synopsis Artificially sedimented specimens of Wyoming bentonite (Volclay) were used to investigate the effect of physico–chemical variables on the shear strength properties of montmorillonite. Triaxial compression tests were performed on calcium and sodium montmorillonite at various electrolyte concentrations.

Analysis of Shear Strength of Wood
Key Engineering Materials, 2011This paper presents the analysis of different types of shear strength of wood which can differ very much due to its structure and different orientations of applied load. These combinations of wood structure and load orientations lead to different modes of fracture. The main aim of the paper is to find a relation among all types of shear strength of the

Shear Strength of Ferrocement Beams
ACI Structural Journal, 1987An experimental investigation was carried out on a total of 28 simply supported ferrocement I-beams loaded in flexure under two symmetrical point loads. The major parameters considered in the study were the shear span-to-depth ratio a/h, compressive strength of the mortar, and amount of longitudinal and transverse reinforcement.
