Bone Ash Impact On Soil Shear Strength

open access: yes, 2013
Most failures of soil have been attributed to poor shear strength. Consequently, the present paper investigated the suitability of cattle bone ash as a possible additive to improve the shear strength of soils. Four soil samples were collected and stabilized with prepared bone ash in proportions of 3%, 5%, 7%, 10%, 15% and 20% by dry weight.

Direct shear characteristics of cement stabilized clay subjected to previous shear [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The cement stabilization techniques have been applied to various types of infrastructure and become one of the essential techniques. A lot of researches have been conducted on the physical and mechanical properties of the cement stabilized soils, many of

The Effect of Roots on the Shear Strength of Texturally Distinct Soils

open access: yesFloresta e Ambiente
The aim of this work was to evaluate the roots influence on the shear strength of a clay soil and a sandy soil. Soil samples with and without roots were collected from experimental plantations of Atlantic Forest native species. The soil samples were then

Thixotropic Hardening of Fao Clay

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2019
Fao region is characterized by weak soft silty clay to clayey silt thick layer which extends to a depth of about 20 m. The construction of some structures on such soils may needs piles.

Comparative analysis of saturated–unsaturated shear strength under undrained loading: Experimental validation and ANN prediction of clayey soils

open access: yesAIP Advances
Geotechnical designs and analyses of earth structures and foundations exclusively involve the assessment and consideration of unsaturated soil shear strength. The laboratory testing equipment and methods for predicting the unsaturated soil shear strength

Experimental Study on the Strength Variation of Unsaturated Cohesive Soil in Red Bed with Water Content

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
The shear strength parameter of rock and soil is the basis of engineering design. As the rock-soil environment is ever-changing, geotechnical parameters that are obtained at a certain point of time can represent no other than the geotechnical condition ...

Effects of Saturation on Shear Strength of Soils

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 1991
ABSTRACT In an attempt to study effects of saturation ratio on the strength parameters of partly saturated soils, several series of triaxial compression tests were conducted on samples of silty sands to silty clay which were recovered from several sites of landslides triggered by heavy rainfalls in recent years.

Peat Soil Stabilization using Lime and Cement

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
This paper presents a study of the comparison between two additive Lime and Cement for treating peat soil in term of stabilization. Peat and organic soils are commonly known for their high compressibility, extremely soft, and low strength.

Effect of stabilizers on the shear strength of residual soil [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
In this paper, chemical stabilizer was used for soil characteristics improvement. Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) polymer and lime is effectively used as an inexpensive and easily applied material for soil stabilization and its response performance was evaluated.
