Failure analysis in disc shear based on Gissmo criterion
To investigate the failure process of the strip during the shearing process of the disc shear, the forces acting on the upper shear blade of the disc shear, and the influence of various factors on the stress of the upper shear blade and the quality of ...

Shear Stress and Atherosclerosis
Hemodynamic shear stress, the frictional force acting on vascular endothelial cells, is crucial for endothelial homeostasis under normal physiological conditions. When discussing blood flow effects on various forms of endothelial (dys)function, one considers two flow patterns: steady laminar flow and disturbed flow because endothelial cells respond ...

Carbon nanomaterial‐reinforced epoxy composites exhibit pronounced piezoresistive behavior, enabling intrinsic damage sensing under cyclic and fatigue loading. This review critically compares carbon nanotube and graphene systems, correlating filler content, percolation threshold, and gauge factor with sensing stability and damage evolution.

Effects of cyclic loading on lateral bearing capacity of single pile in silty seabed
Under larger wave loading, the bearing capacity of marine single pile foundation will be reduced, even instability occurs. A series of undrained shear triaxial tests on the remolded marine silt in Hangzhou Bay are carried out by means of the GDS triaxial

Effect of Oxygen Content on Surface and Subsurface Integrity During Turning of Ti–6Al–4V
This study examines how oxygen content in the ambient atmosphere affects the surface and subsurface properties of Ti–6Al–4V during turning. Results show that oxygen does not influence surface roughness. However, machining in an extremely high vacuum‐adequate atmosphere increases surface hardness by up to 7.8% and induces compressive residual stresses ...

CCM proteins control endothelial β1 integrin dependent response to shear stress
Hemodynamic shear stress from blood flow on the endothelium critically regulates vascular function in many physiological and pathological situations. Endothelial cells adapt to shear stress by remodeling their cytoskeletal components and subsequently by ...

On the Flow Curve of Colloids Presenting Shear-Induced Phase Transitions [PDF]
This work deals with the evaluation of the flow curve of colloidal systems that develop fluid phases with different mechanical properties, namely shear-banding fluids.

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.
