Estimation of Shear Strength of Structural Shear Walls
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2010An analysis method for predicting the shear strength and behavior of structural shear walls under both monotonic and cyclic loading is presented in this paper. The proposed analysis method is based on the softened truss model theory and utilizes a newly proposed cracking angle of the concrete strut.

Frame - Shear Design of Shear Wall Structure
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014Articles with engineering examples discussed in the frame - shear wall structure of how to lay out the structure can effectively enhance the seismic performance of validated reasonable set of structural shear wall seismic played a key role, and for the frame - shear wall structure summed up the points to improve the seismic performance measures and ...

Shear wall with outrigger trusses on wall and column foundations
The Structural Design of Tall and Special Buildings, 2004AbstractA graphical method of analysis is presented for preliminary design of outrigger truss‐braced high‐rise shear wall structures with non‐fixed foundation conditions subject to horizontal loading. The method requires the calculation of six structural parameters: bending stiffness for the shear wall, bending and racking shear stiffnesses for the ...

The Bulletin of Mathematical Biophysics, 1972
This paper deals with a mathematical attempt to determine the wall shear during normal flow of blood in the ascending and the descending thoracic aorta. A simple model is used, but the results obtained are in agreement with published experimental results for the descending thoracic aorta.

Frequency Analysis of Thin-Walled Shear Walls
Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1971The coupled equations of motion for a thin-walled shear wall of monosymmetric cross section are presented based on thin-walled beam theory. An exact coupled solution is obtained by simultaneously solving a coupled polynomial and set of homogeneous linear algebraic equations, in order to obtain the natural frequencies and mode shapes.

THE LENGTH OF PLYWOOD SHEAR WALLS MATTERS
World Conference on Timber Engineering 2025Timber-framed construction is the predominant method used for the construction of residential dwellings in Australia. In this method, lateral forces caused by wind and earthquakes can be resisted by shear wall systems with various sheathing types. The plywood shear wall systems in AS 1684, which typically allow builders to achieve full racking capacity

In this first project of a research program, initiated to investigate the behaviour of coupled shear walls subjected to seismic type lateral loading, the strength and behaviour of the coupling beams is examined. The limitations of the elastic "laminar analysis" are examined and the technique is extended so as to predict the elastoplastic behaviour of a

Shear performance of sheathed LSF walls
ce/papersAbstract Light Steel Framed (LSF) buildings are industrialised dry construction solutions that combine a steel frame of cold‐formed sections with sheathing materials. In these buildings, the main structural functions are assigned to the wall and floor systems. In particular, the shear walls provide the lateral bracing against wind and

Wall shear stress in stenotic artery
Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1992The effects induced by a mild arterial stenosis on the wall shear stress is theoretically investigated. Distribution of shear stress along canine femoral artery and during the cardiac cycle is calculated simulating both the physiological state of the artery and the stenotic condition.
