The shear strength of shear walls
To enable a comparison between the shear strength of shear walls and that of reinforced concrete beams to be made, the behaviour of the latter is briefly reviewed. The findings of research projects, related to deep beams and the effects of repeated cyclic loading, are summarised.

To develop the cold-formed steel (CFS) building from low-rise to mid-rise, this paper proposes a new type of CFS composite shear wall building system. The continuous placed CFS concrete-filled tube (CFRST) column is used as the end stud, and the CFS-ALC ...

The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

Damage Assessment of Shear Wall Structures in an Earthquake–Blast Disaster Chain
Shear wall structures are widely used in civil engineering, and their seismic design has been the focus of much attention. Explosions can result from the rupture and ignition of gas pipelines under seismic action, and there are currently no methods to ...

Micropatterned Biphasic Printed Electrodes for High‐Fidelity on‐Skin Bioelectronics
Micropatterned biphasic printed electrodes achieve unprecedented skin conformity and low impedance by combining liquid‐metal droplets with microstructured 3D lattices. This scalable approach enables high‐fidelity detection of ECG, EMG, and EEG signals, including alpha rhythms from the forehead, with long‐term comfort and stability.

Binary encounters between spherical particles in shear flow are studied for a system bounded by a single planar wall or two parallel planar walls under creeping flow conditions. We show that wall proximity gives rise to a new class of binary trajectories

Patterns in Wall-Bounded Shear Flows
Experiments and numerical simulations have shown that turbulence in transitional wall-bounded shear flows frequently takes the form of long oblique bands if the domains are sufficiently large to accommodate them.

Anisotropic Shear Properties of Organic Interfaces in Bio‐composite Materials
A novel cantilever design enables direct probing of shear properties at single organic interfaces within biocomposite prismatic ultrastructures. By decoupling lateral and torsional shear responses, the method reveals isotropic behavior in Atrina vexillum and pronounced anisotropy in Unio pictorum.

Seismic Performance of Precast Double-Skin Composite Shear Wall with Horizontal Connection Region
This paper proposed a novel, precast double-skin composite (DSC) shear wall, which was composed of two precast parts at the factory and welding and pouring grouting material on site.

This study examines how pore shape and manufacturing‐induced deviations affect the mechanical properties of 3D‐printed lattice materials with constant porosity. Combining µ‐CT analysis, FEM, and compression testing, the authors show that structural imperfections reduce stiffness and strength, while bulk material inhomogeneities probably enhance ...
