Statistics of polymer adsorption under shear flow
Using non-equilibrium Brownian dynamics computer simulations, we have investigated the steady state statistics of a polymer chain under three different shear environments: i) linear shear flow in the bulk (no walls), ii) shear vorticity normal to the ...

Surface flow profiles for dry and wet granular materials by Particle Tracking Velocimetry; the effect of wall roughness [PDF]
Two-dimensional Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV) is a promising technique to study the behaviour of granular flows. The aim is to experimentally determine the free surface width and position of the shear band from the velocity profile to validate ...

A note on Stokes' problem in dense granular media using the $\mu(I)$--rheology [PDF]
The classical Stokes' problem describing the fluid motion due to a steadily moving infinite wall is revisited in the context of dense granular flows of mono-dispersed beads using the recently proposed $\mu(I)$--rheology.

3D‐Printed Sulfur‐Derived Polymers With Controlled Architectures for Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries
Rheology‐guided formulation design for direct ink writing enables the fabrication of 3D sulfur copolymer cathodes with controlled architectures for lithium‐sulfur batteries. The printed electrodes exhibit multiscale porosity and high sulfur utilization, delivering enhanced electrochemical performance compared to conventional cast electrodes.

Analysis of Boundary Slip in a Flow with an Oscillating Wall
Molecular dynamic (MD) simulation is used to study slip at the fluid-solid boundary in an unsteady flow based on the Stokes second problem. An increase in slip is observed in comparison to the steady flow for shear rates below the critical shear rate of ...

Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Evaluation of Shear Wall-RC Frame Interaction of High-Rise Buildings using 2-D model Approach
The usefulness of structural walls in the framing of buildings has long been recognized. It is generally preferred to use shear wall in combination with moment resisting frame. In the present study, an effort is also made to investigate the shear wall-RC

Finite Element Investigation of a Novel Cold-Formed Steel Shear Wall
In this paper, a novel corrugated steel sheet central sheathed cold-formed steel (CCS-CFS) shear wall is proposed. This shear wall can address the problems of low shear strength and ductility in conventional cold-formed steel (CFS) shear walls caused by ...
