Correlations of non-affine displacements in metallic glasses through the yield transition
We study correlations of non-affine displacement during simple shear deformation of Cu-Zr bulk metallic glasses in molecular dynamics calculations. In the elastic regime, our calculations show exponential correlation with a decay length that we interpret

This study examines the mechanical properties of triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS)‐based lattices, analyzing 36 architectures in elastic and plastic regimes. It evaluates the applicability of beam‐based scaling laws to TPMS lattices. Rigidity arises from the alignment of members with the load direction and solid regions preventing rotation.

Geology of late-Variscan Sàrrabus pluton (south-eastern Sardinia, Italy)
This paper deals with the geological mapping of the late-Variscan Sàrrabus pluton, (south-eastern Sardinia), a shallow multiple and composite igneous complex dominated by several generations of granodiorites, metaluminous and peraluminous granites and ...

Strain localization in a shear transformation zone model for amorphous solids [PDF]
We model a sheared disordered solid using the theory of Shear Transformation Zones (STZs). In this mean-field continuum model the density of zones is governed by an effective temperature that approaches a steady state value as energy is dissipated. We compare the STZ model to simulations by Shi, et al.(Phys. Rev. Lett. 98 185505 2007), finding that the

Low‐Activation Compositionally Complex Alloys for Advanced Nuclear Applications—A Review
Low‐activation compositionally complex alloys (LACCAs) are advanced metallic materials primarily composed of low‐activation elements, offering advantages such as rapid compliance with operational standards and safe recyclability. This review highlights their potential for extreme high‐temperature irradiation environments as structural materials for ...

Shear transformation zone analysis of shear reversal during granular flow [PDF]
Experimental measurements of the onset of granular flow are directly compared to predictions of the "shear transformation zone" (STZ) theory of amorphous plasticity. The STZ equations make it possible, on a coarse grained level, to incorporate the anisotropy of the particle contact network and its dynamic evolution including changes in the contact ...

A Study on Thermal Expansion and Thermomechanical Behavior of Composite Metal Foams
The coefficient of thermal expansion of steel–steel composite metal foam (S‐S CMF) is shown to be lower than that of bulk stainless steel while its performance under compression demonstrate excellent mechanical stability and strength at all temperatures with gradualsoftening from 400 to 600 °C.

Investigation of the microcrack evolution in a Ti-based bulk metallic glass matrix composite [PDF]
The initiation and evolution behavior of the shear-bands and microcracks in a Ti-based metallic-glass–matrix composite (MGMC) were investigated by using an in-situ tensile test under transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
