Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Sheep Shearing

open access: yes
Men shear sheep. Most of the sheep shearers came from other parts of the country. They would begin shearing in the warmer states where the shearing began early in the year and worked their way north. Uintah County shearing season ran from April to May. A

Hedge Shearing

open access: yes, 1999
Hedges are a common feature of many South Dakota residential landscapes. A hedge is a row of tightly spaced shrubs or trees, usually of a single species, that function and are maintained as if they were a single plant.

Compatibility of Methacrylate Based Resins Controls Interfacial Failure and Toughness in 3D‐Printed Multimaterial Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

Shearing shed design

open access: yes, 1960
PLANNING the layout of a shearing shed requires a good deal of thought to ensure its maximum working efficiency. If the contemplated structure is to serve the dual purpose of storage-shearing shed, it is better to plan a shearing shed that can be used ...

Grain Refinement During Severe Plastic Deformation and Similitude of Subgrain Formation: A Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular dynamics is used to investigate structure refinement during severe plastic deformation. The results show similitude with experimental data. Molecular dynamics simulations of severe plastic deformation of monocrystalline and polycrystalline samples by multiaxial compression of aluminum are carried out.
