Sheath blight resistance in rice (Oryza sativa): A comprehensive review
The growing global population and the rising trend of rice consumption are expected to drive up future rice (Oryza sativa L.) demand. If India, China, and Indonesia's recent pattern of rising per capita consumption of rice continues, the overall ...

CaMutA interacts with MiChi1 and promotes the degradation of the latter by the 26S proteasome, resulting in the inability to activate reactive oxygen species (ROS), PR genes, and MAPK signalling, thereby weakening resistance to C. asianum. ABSTRACT Colletotrichum asianum, the cause of mango anthracnose, is a major threat to mango production worldwide ...

Jasmonate signalling underpins establishment of plant systemic acquired resistance (SAR). Activation of the hypersensitive response (HR) not only contains the pathogen but establishes broad spectrum resistance in unchallenged leaves. The strong burst of reactive oxygen/nitrogen species initiating the HR results in lipid peroxidation (illustrated by ...

Impact of soil-borne inoculum on sheath blight disease development in rice
Sheath blight disease of rice caused by Rhizoctonia solani AG-1 IA, has become one of the major diseases in some rice- growing areas in recent years. Primary inoculum density seems to be a major factor in disease outbreak.

ABSTRACT Sugar crops, including but not limited to sugarcane, sugar beet, sweet sorghum and stevia, are major sources of sugar production in the world. However, conventional breeding approaches, limited by long breeding cycles, low efficiency and restricted capacity to improve complex traits in sugar crops, are increasingly insufficient to address the ...

NLSS3 Impairs SHM1 Autophagic Degradation to Regulate Leaf Morphology and Salt Tolerance in Rice
In rice, NLSS3 binds and shields SHM1 from autophagic degradation to maintain serine homeostasis. The A132P mutation in nlss3 disrupts this, triggering SHM1 loss, metabolic dysfunction, K+ imbalance, and impaired ROS scavenging, which collectively drive narrow leaves and salt sensitivity.

Effect of Silicon and Spacing on Rice Sheath Blight Disease Severity and Yield
: Sheath blight caused by Rhizoctoniasolani is a major disease of rice worldwide. Silicon can enhance rice resistance to sheath blight, but the relation with plant spacing is poorly known.
