Predation Losses of Domestic Sheep in Alberta [PDF]
Highlight: This paper provides estimates of predation losses of domestic sheep in Alberta in 1974. These estimates were obtained from personal interviews. Unlike the United States, Alberta had a predator control program which emphasized the use of toxicants. Province-wide predation losses averaged 1.6% of the ewes and 2.8% of the lambs.

Pathogen Prevalence in Domestic Sheep in Western Nebraska: Implications for Bighorn Sheep Conservation and Coexistence on a Multi-Use Landscape [PDF]
Bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) and domestic sheep (Ovis aries) are members of the same genus and thus share multiple pathogens that can be spread between them. One specific respiratory pathogen of concern is Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae (M.

Factors of diversity of domestic behaviour in sheep [PDF]

EPIDEMIC PASTEURELLOSIS IN A BIGHORN SHEEP POPULATION COINCIDING WITH THE APPEARANCE OF A DOMESTIC SHEEP [PDF]
A pneumonia epidemic reduced bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) survival and recruitment during 1997-2000 in a population comprised of three interconnected wintering herds (Kenosha Mountains, Sugarloaf Mountain, Twin Eagles) that inhabited the Kenosha and Tarryall Mountain ranges in central Colorado, USA.

Harnessing cross-species alignment to discover SNPs and generate a draft genome sequence of a bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) [PDF]
Background: Whole genome sequences (WGS) have proliferated as sequencing technology continues to improve and costs decline. While many WGS of model or domestic organisms have been produced, a growing number of non-model species are also being sequenced ...

Sialyl glycosides containing 4‐N‐derivatized sialic acids synthesized by a highly efficient one‐pot two‐enzyme (OP2E) chemoenzymatic sialylation strategy have been shown to be versatile probes. They can resist sialidase cleavage, be selective substrates by influenza sialidases, or be nanomolar substrate analog‐based inhibitors and affinity ligands ...

Identification of a novel astrovirus in domestic sheep in Hungary
The family Astroviridae consists of two genera, Avastrovirus and Mamastrovirus, whose members are associated with gastroenteritis in avian and mammalian hosts, respectively. We serendipitously identified a novel ovine astrovirus in a fecal specimen from a domestic sheep (Ovis aries) in Hungary by viral metagenomic analysis.
