Smart, Bio‐Inspired Polymers and Bio‐Based Molecules Modified by Zwitterionic Motifs to Design Next‐Generation Materials for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based and (semi‐)synthetic zwitterion‐modified novel materials and fully synthetic next‐generation alternatives show the importance of material design for different biomedical applications. The zwitterionic character affects the physiochemical behavior of the material and deepens the understanding of chemical interaction mechanisms within the ...

Towards the Contact and Impact Modeling in Finite Element Simulations of High Speed Forming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In finite element simulations of high speed sheet metal forming processes the contact between workpiece and forming tools has to be modeled very carefully. Several important aspects have to be taken into account.

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Combined Working Media-Based Forming on a Pneumo-Mechanical High Speed Forming Machine [PDF]

open access: yes
Quasi-static working media-based forming processes (WMF) permit the production of complex sheet metal parts with relatively little expense. The associated need for very high pressures and hence complex tools and machines for the production of fine ...

Tailoring Microstructure in Copper‐Based Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks for Enhanced Chemiresistive Sensing and Uptake of Sulfur Dioxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Precursor‐ and solvent‐mediated synthesis yields four Cu3(HHTP)2 morphologies with distinct physicochemical, sorption, and sensing properties toward SO2. Uptake capacities correlate with BET surface area, while sensing performance scales with particle aspect ratio.

Sheet metal forming by numerical simulations: 2D and 3D axisymmetric deformation of a cylindrical piece [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Until few years ago, design of sheet metal forming was based on knowledge through work experience and expensive trial and error process. Nowadays the use of numerical simulations in different phases of the sheet metal forming process are performed ...

Reducing Open‐Circuit Voltage Losses in Wide‐Bandgap FAPbBr3 Perovskite Solar Cells for Continuous Unassisted Light‐Driven Water Splitting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The combination of formamidinium thiocyanate and 1,3‐propane diammonium iodide for bulk and top‐surface passivation, and a ternary fullerene blend to improve energy band alignment, suppresses energy losses in wide‐bandgap FAPbBr3 perovskite solar cells.
