Variability of sheet formability and formability testing
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2002Abstract Testing of sheet metal formability has been a long-standing challenge because variability in test procedures and testing machines can mask material variations. In spite of the importance of such testing for manufacturing, few standards exist.

Formability Investigation for Perforated Steel Sheets
SAE International Journal of Materials and Manufacturing, 2021<div>One of the unique characteristics of sheet metals is their formability, which is determined by the forming limit diagrams (FLDs). These diagrams specify the maximum deformation limit before part failure.

Formability: A review on different sheet metal tests for formability
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020Know-how on mechanical behaviour of sheet metal forming operations like deep drawing etc., are very much essential for quality production of articles having wide industrial and domestic applications such as automobile, beverage, aerospace and kitchenware.

A better sheet formability test
Metallurgical Transactions A, 1993A new test for sheet metal formability was designed, constructed, and used to evaluate several coated and uncoated sheet materials. Results from the OSU Formability Test were also compared with standard limiting dome height (LDH) tests and with finite element simulations.

High Strength Formable Sheet Steel
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1977<div class="htmlview paragraph">High strength low alloy steels with minimum yield strength values in the 50-80 Ksi range are experiencing increased usage in automotive applications for reasons of improved safety and weight reduction. These steels are usually supplied in the hot rolled condition although markets are developing for thinner, cold ...

A better sheet-formability test
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1995A new test for sheet metal formability was designed, constructed, and used to evaluate several coated and uncoated sheet materials. Results from the OSU Formability Test were also compared with standard limiting dome height (LDH) tests and with finite element simulations.

Formability of aluminium and steel sheets
Metals Technology, 1978Abstract The formability of soft aluminium, half-hard aluminium, and deep-drawing quality steel sheets was compared using the material parameters r, n, and m, and the forming-limit diagrams. Strain hardening in uniaxial and biaxial tension was found to be the the same, justifying the use of the uniaxial n valuefor the assessment of formability.

Formability limits in sheet-bulk forming
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2020Abstract This paper is focused on the characterization of the fracture limits in sheet-bulk forming. The approach extends to crack opening in mode III (out-of-plane shearing), a digital image correlation-based methodology for determining the fracture forming limits in mode I (tension) and mode II (in-plane shearing).
