Formability of a commercially pure zirconium sheet
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1998Abstract To examine the formability of sheet zirconium in forming processes, some fundamental sheet forming tests, i.e. the deep drawing, the Erichsen and the bore-expanding tests are carried out for a commercially-pure zirconium sheet. The tensile properties are also examined by uniaxial tension tests in the directions of 0°, 45° and 90° to the ...

Formability of AA5182/polypropylene/AA5182 sandwich sheets
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2003Abstract A sandwich sheet, AA5182/polypropylene/AA5182 (AA/PP/AA), has been developed by the roll bonding of two AA5182 aluminum alloy skin sheets with a pre-rolled polypropylene core sheet at 140 °C. The strain-hardening exponent of the aluminum skin was higher than that of the sandwich sheet, while the strain rate sensitivity of the sandwich sheet ...

Formability prediction of high strength aluminum sheets
International Journal of Plasticity, 2009Abstract This paper studies the theoretical formability prediction of high strength aluminum sheets. Four different modeling approaches are considered and compared with each other. The studied approaches are phenomenological ductile fracture modeling, physical modeling of ductile fracture mechanism based on a porous metal plasticity model, the ...

Orientation and formability of orthotropic sheet metals
The Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design, 1997This paper examines the formability of automotive sheet metals: CR steels and 6000 series aluminium-magnesium alloys. Necking strains are used to determine the forming limits; i.e. a diffuse instability condition is reached under in-plane biaxial stressing.

Formability of sheet metal with heterogeneous damage
Journal of Materials Science, 1985During sheet metal forming operations, internal damage occurs as a result of nucleation, growth and coalescence of cavities around particles, inclusions or second phase. In this work, this phenomenon is experimentally studied by relative density change measurements and scanning electron microscope observations in a dual-phase steel sheet.

Tensile Testing for Determining Sheet Formability
2004Abstract Sheet metal forming operations consist of a large family of processes, ranging from simple bending to stamping and deep drawing of complex shapes. Because sheet forming operations are so diverse in type, extent, and rate, no single test provides an accurate indication of the formability of a material in all situations.
