Strippable grid facilitates removal of grid-surfaced conical workpiece from die [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Female die facilitates the removal of a sheet metal structure from a die used for explosive forming of the metal. The female die consists of a smooth conical frustum made of fiber glass with a cured epoxy-resin surface on which a molded grid pattern made

Duplex Stainless Steel Laser‐Surface Textured: Stability in Brine Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐surface treatment (LST) of duplex DSS2205 steel is performed to increase its stability in brine solution under cyclic electrochemical assays. The superior protection with respect to flat and smooth panels is attributed to the presence of FeCr2O4 as the main protective oxide layer in the LST surface, after corrosion tests. The stability

Method for making conductors for ferrite memory arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
The ferrite memory arrays are made from pre-formed metal conductors for the ferrite arrays. The conductors are made by forming a thin sheet of a metallizing paste of metal alloy powder, drying the paste layer, bisque firing the dried sheet at a first ...

Compressible Flow Exfoliation of Two‐Dimensional Nanomaterials: Insights Into Layer Separation Informed by Gas Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study elucidates the mechanism of compressible flow exfoliation for producing 2D hexagonal boron nitride (h‐BN). Fluid dynamics analysis reveals that acceleration‐driven aerodynamic shear forces, rather than shock waves alone, drive effective layer separation.

FEM analysis on the deformation behavior of flange portion during early stage in deep drawing of dúplex embossed sheet metal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Duplex embossed sheet metals are very useful due to their high rigidity. Furthermore, it is very interesting that the periodic configurations given by embossing brings a new macroscopic feature into a sheet metal.

On adaptive mesh refinement in wrinkling prediction analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Hutchinson approach has been successfully used by a number of researchers in thin sheet metal forming processes for wrinkling prediction. However, Hutchinson approach is limited to regions of the sheet that are free of any contact.

Unidirectional Tape‐Based Composites from Hemp and Pineapple Leaf Fiber: Mechanical Performance in Conventional and Bio‐Based Matrices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study investigates novel semi‐finished products made of unidirectionally arranged hemp or pineapple leaf fiber‐reinforced composites produced from different matrices. The materials are analyzed in terms of their mechanical and interfacial properties and void content.
