Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Design and Analysis of Compression–Torsion Coupling Metamaterials Using the Golden Section Method

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel compression–torsion metamaterial is engineered using inclined rods and symmetry breaking. To optimize its torsional performance, the golden section method is employed. The mechanical response of the metamaterial is validated through both numerical analysis and experimental validation.

Role of the Single Sheet Pile Beneath the Dams on Seepage Parameters Maintenance: Review

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences
Seepage is a significant issue that contributed to the dam’s failure. Different water levels on the U/S and D/S sides produce seepage and uplift pressure.

Hybrid Metal–Carbon Ink for Printed Stretchable Temperature Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We prepare conductive inks for temperature sensing with silver flakes and carbon or graphite flakes in a silicone elastomer matrix. Silver dominates the temperature‐dependent conductivity, while the carbon filler network ensures the stability of the conductive pathways and retains function under strain.

Effect of Intermediate Sheet Piles in Non-Homogenous Soil on Seepage Properties Under Hydraulic Structure Using SEEP/W Program

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2016
The seepage through a permeable soil under hydraulic structure exerts uplift pressure and may carry soil particles there by leads to piping. This paper concerns to study the effect of using intermediate sheet pile under the apron of hydraulic structure ...

Analysis and Design of Anchored Sheet-Pile Walls: Theoretical Comparisons, Experimental Validation, and Practical Procedures

open access: yesBuildings
Anchored sheet-pile walls (ASPWs) are widely used as earth-retaining structures in engineering practice. The difficulty in analyzing sheet piles arises because the loading on the wall is a function of the deformation of the soil and the sheet-pile ...

Bending Moment Calculations for Piles Based on the Finite Element Method

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
Using the finite element analysis program ABAQUS, a series of calculations on a cantilever beam, pile, and sheet pile wall were made to investigate the bending moment computational methods.

Delaying solute transport through the soil using unequal double sheet piles with a surface floor

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2018
The hydraulic control is a common solution used to delay and minimize solute transport through groundwater. A study using unequal double sheet piles and a horizontal impermeable floor at the surface was carried out using a numerical model to minimize ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.
